1984 Trek 770 with super record components

Can anyone tell me if there are weights listed for super record components somewhere? Older components like mine?

All I can suggest is weight weenies, or weigh them yourself and submit them. Awesome looking bike! I would snap that up in a heartbeat.

I was just curious to find out if they were titanium or not.. I found a campy timeline.. Going to go read that.. from the timeline I found out that I have 130mm hubs and not 126 like I thought.. which explains why my new wheelset dropped right in...

Could you post the link to that timeline?

No, the only stock titanium bits on the 770 are the derailleur pivot bolts.

oh thanks... It's still a very light bike.. when I put a lighter seat on it.. I'm guessing right around 20lbs.. I
need to find a scale.. The guy at the bike shop was trying to get me to trade it in for a new Specialized $1700 bike..
trying to sell me .. that it would be much lighter.. until he picked my bike up.. he wanted to give me $300 on a trade in..
I declined... I think this is a keeper.. I'll put the stock wheels and hubs back on it.. and get a newer bike as well..

No. The 770 is a keeper no matter what in my book.

He's thinking that he could flip it for twice that! Don't sell it- you will regret it. Even though I recently bought a new carbon fiber superbike I have kept my 25 year old steel Pinarello. It is still a blast to ride, and will probably outlast me. Yours is a classic and cannot be replaced with something new. Supplemented, yes, but not replaced.

(by the way, I can't open your link to the pictures)

According to the catalog on vintage-trek.com, both the 760 and 770 from 1984 were made with 531P tubing - so it should be a good 1-1/4 ounce lighter than stuff made in other years from 531C tubing. I need to get the headset properly tightened on my 760 and get some more saddle time on it. (the curse of having three bikes of about the same weight and geometry)

Yes I have to pay for my .mac account... here is a new link
https://s896.photobucket.com/albums/a...is/Trek%20770/
Oh I'm definitely not selling it..
I took it out today with new wheels.. unsatisfying to say the least..
can't get the derailleur dialed in.. Now I'm wondering if I knock it back down to six cogs and use a
spacer inside that.. to make up the difference.. would that work?

fwiw - I have my '84 760 (same frame as 770 essentially) set up with a Campagnolo 9 speed drivetrain. Shifting works just fine. I think it's just a matter of getting your set-up dialed in.

Are you using the original derailleurs? and a modern wheelset?

No. The original derailleur would have been Shimano, with a slightly different pull ratio. I tried a more vintage RD with the 9 speed cassette, and it could barely cover 8 of the cogs. It has a 9 speed Chorus RD now.

ok.. my original is Super Record... but it will barely cover 7 cogs... So I'm trying to figure out how to
make it work without changing the derailleur..

760 would have been SunTour Superbe Pro; 770 Campy Super Record. Same frame, different grouppo.
