Lots of good times with these old friends:
No collector here - I bought the helmet in June, 1980 and the Stumpie in July, 1982.

Nothing against collecting C&V helmets to hang off your cotton handlebar tape.

The Skid-Lid was my first helmet. I never discovered how little protection it offered while I still used it.

My wife is sporting an old '90 Rhode Gear helmet that I gave her to use.
She was a sport.

I'm not sure how old this is, but I believe I got this after I retired the Skid-Lid. It lives on a shelf in my garage. (not sure why I still have it)

My first was a Bell V1 pro too...white, I seem to recall. I had my first really bad wreck with the first generation Giro, and broke it into three pieces. And yeah, whomever mentioned that little bell logo "window"....totally useless! =)

Nice. My clasp still works. I had to replace the foam padding, but this is still the only helmet I've ever owned, worn and still continue to use.

Giro Brancale from 1985 or so.
(not my photo)
Good helmet, I retired it after stoving in a car door at unknown speed one day when she ran a stop sign. I don't remember that there was much wrong with me.

^Ha, I had one of those heavy Brancales--purchased in '86. It was considered one of the more stylish lids back in the day. I must have kept it for the better part of a decade before getting the next generation lighter weight helmets that arrived in the 90s. Mostly Giros for me since.
I love the pic of the NIB Vetta. I'd like to confirm the date--I would have assumed it was mid-to late eighties.
^^And I bet a helmeted cyclist looked a bit barmy to Brits back in 1973!

One of my old helmets and Cinelli winter gloves recycled into a Halloween costume a few years ago.

That's my helmet and my photo I still have it. It's a Brancale SP4.
Yep! I always felt I made a real fashion statement when I wore it

I've occasionally intimidated people with my large and shapely thighs, but it fades quickly after I start riding. I'm not particularly strong or fast. Oh well. But thanks!

Ooooh, a revival thread!
Here's a Giro that I picked-up on the bay awhile ago. It's in near mint, unworn condition and I wear it sparingly not for any particular reason. Any idea of the year? Goes well with the jersey pictured -
I just picked this one up, and its what I normally wear now. It's a brand new Carrera that was made to look like the older leather hair nets or pistards, but it actually offers your head some protection! It's pretty cool.

I probably got the Vetta around 1986 or '87 but the memory is hazy. Unfortunately no pictures of the entire costume. It featured lots of worn-out MTB tires and a Bling Bling Biopace chainring worn around the neck on a gold painted plastic chain.
