help dating a Raleigh rodbrake ladies in uk, maybe a dawn?
hi, I'm cleaning up this bike as my new cool ride and trying to work out its date,
I've spent days on here and sheldons site trying to figure it out but apparently raleigh recycled there serial numbers which seems silly,
as a bike it rides like a dream after very little work! the wheels and spokes are very rusty and the rod brakes are awful but i fear spares may be hard to come by
It looks like the dawn from the '39 brochure, single speed, rod brakes, 26" dunlop courier back and dunlop courier oversize front tyres(which are awesome),made in england stamped on everything, old style multipart pedals, eyes on the herons on the chainring, bolt on rear triangle and may have been black once.
the brochure says it has one saddle when this one has the brooks saddle with the 2 springs on the back (not sure of the name for that one).
the front light holder rocks but seems to be no help dating it.
one thing i dont have a photo of is the back hub, it says" the villier model" on the freewheel.
here is a flicker set of the bike

if anyone wants more pics to help id this I'll do my best,
any step further to working out the year or model would be great,
hope this post is in the right section.

I am riding it a lot already, mostly to buy stuff to fix it up. Cheers to Whoever gave the tip about sealing sanded down metal with boot wax, it works great. Rust is now my mortal enemy. Danny this oxygen rich atmosphere.
Forgot to say, the bike has an oiling point on the BB and no headbadge, id love to find the right one to replace it if it ever had one
