I got laid off, but broke my Tallboy, so I've had plenty of time for bikin' with my boy Len:

Buuuut, since my bike was broken, I had to ride my classic DeKerf:
IMG_2030 by tashipeacock1, on Flickr

Things have come a long way however, and this bike is too small soooooo, I picked up a Chromag Rootdown to keep me bikin' while I sort out the Tallboy:

So now we're riding even more! This bike is sa-weet!

Found this petrified giraffe in the woods the other day. I think it choked to death on whatever that is in its mouth

He was funny, as well as being a pretty bird.
He strutted in a very sprightly manner (like he had done it everyday) right past the front yard gate, past a maze of plantings in the side and back yard, then settled directly in that leaf pile.
He rested for a couple hours, then flew up & over that 6 foot fence, no problem.
I have lived here for 27 years and have never seen a male ring-neck pheasant in the neighborhood.

Looks a little different than it did when we went up a couple years ago.

Because of these blockages - and my side-trip to Bridal Veil Falls and the Index-Independent mine - I didn't reach the lake until 4:30. I'd packed my LED MagLite, however, and when it got dark around 5:00 I followed its beam back down the 2200 feet/4 miles back to the trailhead. Kudos to MagLite and Energizer - dropped that light more times than I could count but it was working and shining brightly as ever once I got back to the car.

Never any worry about getting stuck out there - I was dressed for it and had extra clothes/lighter/etc with me. Never planned to do a hike like that in pitch-blackness, but that's an inadvertent Bucket List item checked off

Yessir. That's what it looked like this summer, too. I went up twice in July and August. Amazing what a little glacial silt will do for the water - turned it Celeste

Next time, DD, you should bring your chainsaw and perform a valuable public service. Those blow-downs don't just clear themselves away, y'know!

I haven't been on any local trails around here since the big windstorm, but I'm sure it the same story.

The big oil rig that passed though our local harbor last April is back; it seems they towed this thing all the way to Alaska and then changed their minds. Must be the long-term price slump the oil market is going through.

Nice pics! And a good case for proving the Lindy effect, I'd say.

Sika II looks nice. You wouldn't have any more pics of her, would you?

EDIT: oh, and the bike too, of course. Sorry.

I've been past this vine climbing an old Dogwood many times, but this is the first time I've paid notice to the fall fruits.

I call this photo "sadness". The first snow has hit and it`s a bad one. The chances it will melt by tomorrow is dwindling with every hour.
