What a dilemma!
Hi friends, I have the opportunity of owning one of the below bikes. They are a Falcon, BJ, PX-10, and Scapin. My dilemma is deciding on which one to choose. I wish I could have them all, but I definitely can’t! I initially was going for the BJ because of what I have read about these bikes, and I thought that it had the nice lugs, and that the paint was a different color like my favorite blue! :-) The PX-10 is a beauty too. The gentleman has the original Brooks, and Simplex seatpost. The falcon is very nice, but it is more for a triathlete. Finally, after reading more on Scapin, I’m falling in love with it. I’m actually trading my 1985 Trek 620 for one of these, as I could not sell it on eBay, and the gentleman with these nice bikes has shown interest in buying my Trek, or a trade. So please help me decide which one to choose! They are all my size between 54-56cm. Which one would you choose and why? Thanks!
Thanks!

Let me guess... you spent the whole summer painting his fence, sanding his floor, and waxing his bikes. Now he has rewarded you with this choice. Well, which one looks best with Elisabeth Shue? I'd say the Scapin.

Obviously the Bob Jackson. If for some reason you can't get that one, the PX-10.

That Peugeot is a wreck - if you go that route, I hope you have the tools, luck, money, and skill to make it right.
The Bob Jackson looks to be the freshest, and close to ready-to-ride. Plus, looks like a new wheel set. A physical inspection might change my mind, but based on the pics alone I'd choose that one.

Another vote for the Bob Jackson. Scapin in second. Not feeling the other two.

Bob Jackson, definitely. PX-10 as the second choice, despite the condition.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my Bob Jackson since taking her off of CL last year.
The bike rides beautifully, so nice I may take her on our C&V ride tomorrow.
Comfy, all-day ride.
No doubt, I'd take that BJ in a second if she fits you.

I bet for a lot of people it's hard to turn down a good bj, I mean especially cause u don't get to have a bj that nice, it's not a common occurrence. I'm sure a lot of people would have a lot of satisfaction of having that bj. Who knows where that bj could lead to, it could be alot of fun. But as hard as it would be to turn down a wonderful bj I would still pick he scapin.
Btw, I'm talking about bikes, get your mind out of the gutter

Are you collecting, or plan to ride them? What's your style/passion....touring, racing, rando, showy or subdued?
1. Falcon: Looks to be the newest bike, 531 tubing, Shimano 105 throughout. Technically the superior bike of the 4. But there are too many bikes from the same era that looks and performs the same.
2. Scapin: Chrome, braze-on bosses, Italian, (Columbus SL?) racy geometry and looks, mediocre Campy components, but still newer than the next two. Polished up, it can be ebay-ed for some $$ to buy a better group.
3. B.J.: Reputation, classic build and geometry, 531 tubing, circa 1980, no braze-ons, Shimano 600EX components, friction, good group but not their best. Doesn't appear to be complete (ie. the brake levers), funky paint scheme, unlike most B.J.s. But it's a BOB JACKSON, and that means it's a desirable frame...deserves a component group upgrade.
4. PX10: Example of Classic bike. Heritage, TdF, 531, funky French standards, needs work, questionable daily rider...a special occasion bike, a collector's bike. Good luck locating the right parts.
IMO, I choose the Scapin, then the Bob Jackson based on the above.

For me it would be the Falcon, looks like one I had when I was a kid, I also grew up near the factory in the UK.
