Western Flyer Galaxy as an around town cruiser ?

This one just showed up on CL yesterday. It's a Western Flyer Galaxy, the seller says it is in show room condition, have your ridden one ? I believe it is a dept. store bike from the 60's - 70's, even though, would it make a decent cruiser for short distances ?

Hey, it's got fenders and an upright riding position. It won't be fast, but it would make a great commuter.
And a good conversation-starter.

I agree with you regarding the conversation starter, not sure about the bike. I was initially looking for a Schwinn Speedster or Racer. Let's see. Thanks!

This bike probably has 26x1 3/4 tires, not the more readily available 26x1.75 (see Sheldon, https://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html ). Not a huge issue but you'll likely have to order the tires rather than picking them up locally.
Same goes for the Schwinn Speedsters and Racers. They use Schwinn 26x1 3/8 (599mm rim) as opposed to English 26x1 3/8 (590mm rim). That said, I had a Schwinn Breeze a while back that was a real nice ride.
