Crapsters,

How many of you come back to this thread to find out if anybody took the crap you put in the box? Looks like @RaleighSport and @smontanaro apparently do...

I know I will!

RaleighSport 08-22-15 11:53 AM

You mistake my activity, I'm a volunteer cat herder.

The loot!

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...pswfvt03ma.jpg

My wife and I both had a blast just digging through and checking out all the crap, then halfway through my second attempt at repacking the box I looked up at her in mock despair and said, "This game isn't fun anymore." But eventually, success!, and the box will be dropped at the post office tomorrow. Good times! :D

Yup, the best we've got. Sometimes I wish there were a way to turn this whole project over to you ;)

Wow, that's the nicest score I've seen here in awhile! Campy front and rear derailleurs? Vintage flat-stoppers? Niiiiice :)

All about the flat stoppers in goat-head, AZ. I've seen them in pictures, but never held (much less tried) a pair, and as I dug through all the crap that was the item that absolutely was not continuing on its journey. ;)

Oh, yes - I am familiar with AZ as the goathead capital of the Southwest :)

Nice patina on the flat stoppers. Nice that they don't have to be pristine to get the job done.

They're headed for the -- ahem -- somewhat-less-than-pristine Super Sport commuter. In their current condition they'll be all-but-invisible. ;)

The eagle has flown!
(after a wholly disregarded official lecture on bulges, rounded corners, and tape holding the box together.)

mountaindave 08-24-15 02:48 PM

After two of these iterations, I get the strong impression that fresh crap doesn't stay long in the box. It must smell better. ;)

Those were indeed vintage flat stoppers, at least 40 years old. Probably never used and handed down a generation. Enjoy!

@Drillium Dude - BOC arrived today. Already went through it. Much better selection of crap than the last time! Will be posting pics soon but I need to select my donations.

Fanny pack for my wife who hates them but now realizes how useful they can be. I don't use one.
Stem for a drop bar conversion
Pedals are lighter than the ones .....
Flick stand for my wifes Raleigh
Hood as a spare.
Bottle cage for the Masi
Crank Caps for the Tandem

smontanaro 08-27-15 05:14 AM

This is nice. The crap seems to definitely be getting better.

gugie 08-27-15 12:56 PM

I passed on some of that crap. But looking through the box a few weeks ago, I saw some crap that I knew somebody would want/need later.

I saw the misc. BB and HS parts, so I added the cable and housing end bits that I had a surplus of. I'm always needing the one I don't have. Call that the "stocking stuffer" section.

Drillium Dude 08-27-15 02:07 PM

Not only does the crap seem to be getting less crappy, the packaging is taking on new levels of sophistication. Nice haul, Patrick!

@Drillium Dude Mind adding me to the list again? No rotten fruit this time. Cross my heart. :D

RaleighSport 08-27-15 04:11 PM

Fresh stack of decals are curing, throw me back in rotation.

Iowegian 08-27-15 04:40 PM

If any of you goathead fans out there want some 'Mr Tuffy' liner strips, send me a PM. I have a huge box of them.

Fahrenheit531 08-27-15 09:05 PM

So are people automatically on the list for future rotations, or is a formal request required?
If it's the latter, consider this my formal request. ;)
A fine game indeed!

Go to Post #1 (the primal post), where the Crappy Rules are clearly stated...since you formally requested, I think you're in! Wait for the Official and Important PM, of course. And since you're only 2 behind me, there's an excellent chance you'll get another chance at my crap! Knowing who's next in line, maybe we can think of what crap we have that the next guy might have...

BTW, from you picture, 5 individual items were my entries, I feel quite proud that my crap is so valuable! The goat head pullers, alas, were not, although I did have a set on my 1975 Raleigh Super Course MkII when I was a teenager in the Central Valley of California-lots of those there as well. I saw those, polished down from actual usage, knowing the box was going to Arizona, and was hoping you'd take them!

This is the crappiest thing I've ever been involved in!

:thumb: Your crap is gold! Two of my crappy items left the box at their first stop and yeah, I'm feeling a bit of Crap Pride too. My first placement of the goat-head yankers was total crap (but that's for another thread if and when the time comes). I mean, heck, there's only so many possibilities.
