Cal Clipper 10 speed

i picked up a bike with a name badge on the front that reads Cal clipper. it's a 10-speed and I can't find anything at all on it anywhere! say's made in japan on the front, has anyone heard of this? From what I can tell it's a cro-moly lugged frame. die-compe and shimano parts, missing FD and RD. Any info is greatly appreciated in advance. Thanks

I recall these were mid-level Japanese bikes from the '70's, so perhaps a little below mid-level here in the US market.

These seem to turn up about once per year on Sacramento's Craigslist.

A photo might refresh BF member's memories.

it's in really ruff shape, only because I've never heard of it and it was lugged I grabbed it. If its not something super rare I was thinking of turning it into a fixie. What do you think BF world? again any info and comments are welcome and appreciated, thanks

I don't know how rare it is, but it looks like an entry level bike. Maybe a notch above something like the old Schwinn Varsity. It very well might be suited to conversion into a fixie or a townie.
