Run across any BF members lately?

We've done this before, but it's been a while.
Include "locals" if you wish.

Locally, I see 0tt0 Rax from time to time, and lsdmt and norskagent less.
3 miles away, I see drrobwave quite a bit, and try to rip him off on parts whenever I can.
Also, if we ride together, I let him pull. I'm much shorter, and he gets all the wind.

Good week for me:

Met with Ex Pres on Wednesday night when he was in the area from Alabama.
We had a good ride and he dropped me like a hot rock leaving the last stoplight.
I really liked his Gianni Motta bike.

Met with cehowardGS (Baltimore) and High Fist Shin (PA) this morning in Maryland.
High Fist Shin left at 3 am, I left at 2:30 am, and cehowardGS left around 6 am.
We got to the meet within minutes of each other. It was great to finally meet Dan.
He's as nice in person as he is on line, and he builds a heck of a bike.
Always great to see Coleman, of course; he's da man.

I had a great chorizo omelet, and thought immediately of rhm and his foodie centuries.

You guys really made my week.

I've run across Shoota and TampaRaleigh, traded some bits, unstuck a VERY stubborn BB and such. Have yet to get out and ride with a BF member. I think there are about a dozen BF Members around the Tampa Bay Area (perhaps more that are unlisted as to local), need to get together and do a ride or picnic or something.

Hey Robbie, that was a treat to be around "heavyweights" in the sport!! That was really cool how we timed the meet too, and we hooked up within 5 mins. That bike is a killer, not going to say what it was, just that it is awesome to say the least.

Glad you made it back safely too. that was a long trek!!!

In the last month or so I've procured some fine Campy bits and enjoyed a quick chat on a café patio with jeffpepperdine, and was most grateful to VolvoJP for assisting this bike-and-bus-reliant (unlicensed and carless) member in shuttling the incomplete projects from my storage unit to my new place upon my return to Vancouver from Montreal...look forward to perhaps getting out for a ride once we get a break in the NW Pacific Coast rain! Maybe get a chance to bump into some folks down in WA as the weather gets good - nice riding in that State, as I discovered last Spring riding up from Bellingham with the then-newly-acquired Mercian that Drillium Dude facilitated. It'd have been great to get a ride in with him, but alas not so close to Vancouver anymore...

Just you from the C&V Robbie. Excellent ride - glad I could help get you back on the road.
That Equipe shore is purty.
I think I exceeded my calories expended later at Beefmastors, though.

I do ride with sch when he's not working on the weekends. He doesn't hang around in C&V, though he owns a few (he's had his Teledyne Ti since new).

I've met one or two C&V guys thru face to face bike sales. Tmh657 and shnibop come to mind. I have met more Classic Rendevous guys in person. Not because of shows and such: they like my vintage collection and occasionally drop by to see what's new.

Nobody likes me, just my bikes..

I keep waiting to see a C&V bike stranded on the 76 trail and then find out it's one of the posters here. So far, no luck. Mostly just Surly riders. Never know where those people waste their time on the internet.

I thought I saw Aron last time I was in Philly but he ducked down an alley before I could overtake him.

Any chance you could make it down for one of the Cape Cod Rail Trail rides, Frank? Quite a hike, I admit.

Met photogravity at an R/C race up in Frederick, MD a while back. He needed some parts, I had some parts, and there you have it. Other than that, never had the pleasure.

However, I'm going to retire in four months and am looking forward to more time for bike-ish road trips farther south to the Carolinas, North to New England, and west to Wisconsin.

Wisconsin: Dairyland Dare is 8/10/13. You'll meet more BF C&V guys there than maybe you wanted to, but you'll definitely have a good time. And you know you're welcome any time down here.

He is nice, builds a beautiful bike, and he sure can pick a restaurant. I've never had Mexican food for breakfast, and it was killer. In fact, last night, I went to see my acquaintance Rufino, who owns 3 Mexican restaurants, told him what I had, and he rubbed his chin, said, "might be worth a try."

Next weekend is the Chicago Bike Swap. Not the big Winter Bike Swap that was in Palatine, this is a smaller event, more focused on urban cycling than sport, or at least so it seems to me. Lots of bike advocacy stuff too, workshops, etc.

I'll be at a table with Bibliobob and Night Tiger, and expect to see Rockhound and JJhabbs nearby, also selling. I'm sure other familiar BFers will be there (El Guicho, Big Chainring) and maybe some unfamiliar ones too...

Between the holidays, I took up esteemed author and bike mechanic Auchencrow's generous offer to tour his personal collection. Luckily, I wore a lobster bib to prevent the drool from staining my fleece jacket!

I owe Auchencrow a reciprocal visit, after I get organized in the new digs and consolidate the personal fleet down from 4 locations across Michigan, NJ, and NY.

Hope to meet some of the NJ gang in the near future. My golden retriever will love Velognome's lawn!

I met Photogravity once, cool dude, matter of fact he's so cool that the second time he came around I actually let him into my home where he met my family and saw my small stable of personal bikes. (He doesn't know it but I hardly ever bring anyone into my home, let alone meet my family. )

We flatlanders (ftwelder, myself & Bluesdaddy) like to refer to the local natives as "Cranky Yankees," which is fitting for C&Vers. But don't let that keep you away. Biking in northern New England is a real joy. Very rural, uncongested, and the drivers are usually nice (not at all like what our southern New Englanders experience). I've got a C-Dale or a Schwinn waiting for you!
