Bruce Gordon Rock'n Road
I have a subject bike. It was made in Japan. From the serial # (89F2352), I assume it is an '89 model and was one of a batch of 275 or 400 of the bikes designed by Bruce and produced in Japan.
Any other info would be welcome as I am trying to learn what I can about the bike.

Has drop outs for touring racks. Tubing and fork are Cro-Mo Tange MTB (very solid - and heavy).
Other than that, I know little about its history or how good these bikes are/were. Original owner said he purchased new in '90 and that it has a few hundred miles on it...

Looking for any additional information +/- on the bike. Also, suspect that a few things are not original..e.g., stem, tires - and would like to return it to original if possible. The wheels are Shimano DeoreXT hubs with Mavic MA40 rims. Components are Shimano DeoreXT. Paint is in good condition for age...a few rubs. Bike has been hanging most of its life...

Great bike.
Loved mine and shouldn't have sold it.
My bike was all Deore XT with PW hubs and MA 40s.
Your stem is the only piece that looks out of place from the original.
Mine came with a Nitto Technomic, but that wasn't stock either.
I saw a pic of a showroom fresh RnR with a black Nitto on it.

I'm not sure about the era when your bike was made, but you can currently buy Bruce's bikes either as a frame and fork or as a complete bike. So just about any component made before the frame could be "original." As for tires, what better choice than the Bruce Gordon Rock 'n Road tire? https://brucegordoncycles.bigcartel.c...-and-tube-deal

Thanks to all for the info/comments. The bike in the archived pics is the same (paint scheme/color) as mine. Mine is without the fenders and front rack.

Your frame was intended to be a good quality loaded touring rig at a reasonable price (meaning lower priced than anything Bruce could build himself while retaining what Bruce though was important in a loaded touring frame).
I would expect it to be very straight-line stable (this ain't no criterium machine, nor should it be), surprisingly agile on descents, all-day comfy and somewhat stiff in the bottom bracket area (the better to handle 35lbs of toruing equipment). I would also expect it to really come into its own under load - that is what is was designed for.

The guys in the Touring forum would love to see those pics. Rock and Roads seem to be very well regarded there. I'm pretty sure there are a few members that have used them for loaded touring and would have a lot of experience and info to share. Congratulations, btw. I'd love to have one of those myself.
