+1 on that sharp looking seat post.
Nice job on the frame brazing work.
This is going to be beautiful. Love them Ciocc's.

Done deal.

Sloar has allowed me to switch the color on my Gazelle.

What a guy.

Orange it will be.

Awesome looking frame. I've noticed before, that several more vintage Mieles than mine were painted orange, & I've thought hard about orange, for if I ever re-paint mine.

Surprising statements from a guy with a Mopar High-Impact color as his moniker.
Gorgeous color. There are those who swear it will make the bike faster!
Now I wanna see one in Plum Crazy.

That's maybe what I'll do with a Bridgestone MB 1 frameset I have.

Yes, it really needs paint.

Since orange is the new red, I approve wholeheartedly

This will look great together with your planned black component group and the decal set.

Gotta say this has come a long way from what it wasn't when you picked it up; love the way the internal brake routing came out.

You gotta love orange! Since you've got lots of black going on, take heart and reassurance from one of my favourite looking bikes. (Edit: not mine!) I think this will look ace.

Dang, I just redid the black on my Miele, a fresh coat of "Wet Black" powder coat... I love the black with fresh NOS decals but now I wish I would have gone with the orange I looked at and considered. I went conservative but seeing the orange makes me wish I'd been more adventurous!

Here is my Euro-Asia Imports Area 51 cyclocrooss bike, I don't race anymore, hence why it's a utility bike but I do love the orange!

Does that system have a lacquer clear? Urethane clear over lacquer apparently peels off from what I have read? Lacquer is usually sprayed on heavily, then sanded and polished to get a shine. I would imagine lacquer clear might be the same? Polishing lacquer around lug edges would be a nightmare. It's one reason I usually pick acrylic enamel for bikes. One spray, and it shines. That means no clear on decals, but anyway.,,,,BD

This is is not the old style lacquer, it paints like acrylic enamel. They have a detailed website, check it out. It's a premix paint. You get the primer, paint and clear. If you prep right sanding is not needed. And no polishing at all. I usually sand the primer, then sand the paint unless it's metallic. No sanding on the clear unless I make a mistake. Best thing is it dries really fast. The paint looks thin on the frame, so no details are covered, even the script on the dropouts come out clean. At $75 for everything, plus the durability and ease of using, I will only use this paint.

Polishing lacquer is really easy on bike frames, I use Meguiars Scratch X, I Polish the paint being carefull not to rub too hard, then wax. Comes out great.

what would you guys do on the columbus decals. i have no ideal on the tubing, and the decal kit comes with the generic columbus decals. i would really like to use a specific tubing decal, just don't want to put the wrong one on.

The paint does appear nice and thin on the frameset.

While that's important, I like the durability even more.

The bicycle saw many miles of use last summer and fall and sloar's talent helped get the bike on the road.

I'd use the generic Columbus unless someone figures out the deal with the MAX. Then you're being more accurate, in any case.
The more I look at that fork decal, the more it looks like one of those reproduction decal that peels off the backing and goes right onto the frame. I'm not a fan of those, I like the ones that are pretty much just the lettering, and no vinyl or anything else.

I was just thinking, it must have been around '72 or '73, & I was about 9 or 10, & my neighbor had a purple Schwinn Stingray, & only ever had grape sodas. He was mostly pretty cool, but he was definitely a little too "into" the whole purple & grape thing. At least I thought so at the time, LOL, but now I like it even more.

My dad had a plum crazy AAR Cuda.

Outrageous car, but most of his were a bit in your face.

Mopar rocks. My older sister had a Roadrunner for awhile, I think it was a '73 or '74, in bright blue with those fading stripes in red. I was 15, & couldn't "legally" drive it, LOL. That one had a 389, I think, not the big dog 440. That would be a dangerous toy, I guess.

I once exited a bowling alley to hear the roar of my friend Lyle's Fury III 440 ex-highway patrol car go past, at least 100mph. The next roar I heard was almost the same car, driven by an actual highway patrolman. We had no choice but to jump into a '74 Charger 340 that had "a lot of work done" and go see Lyle in bracelets.... Problem is, I was in the passenger seat and the door wasn't quite closed, and as we turned left under full throttle, I exited the Charger and remained in the plowed snow bank. My driver decided to back up and look for me, and we went back into the bowling alley for another beer. Lyle outran the patrolman, but for some reason, he enlisted about 2 days later.

That Plum Crazy flaked off of every car I ever saw with it. The orange was my favorite color, the Super Bee my favorite Mopar monster. When you think back, it's seems so weird that a lot of the muscle cars came with a vinyl roof. 70's, gotta love 'em.

I'm constantly amazed I'm still alive after some of nonsense we pulled.

How much does the frame weigh? And can you see any rifling in the tubing?

Well then, by the time he paints my frame he will have the orange dialed in...I am leaning towards using it too! Also with black decals and black panto...I guess seeing this Ciocc when it's finished will help me decide.

They offer "hugger orange" and "burnt orange metallic". I am assuming this is the hugger?
