Well I'm not sure if it is a CDI, but it was equipped with a Stronglight crank, Modolo brakes, and Synco shifting. Heres a thread about:

Will be a nice ride when you are done. Your trash is indeed " higher up " then mine. Nice pink. Can't tell if it is a CDI but it is a Bianchi so good enough !
Daunting task ahead of you for sure. I can understand why the non- bike person would throw it away instead of trying to fix it themselves( OMG, I can't do this and it's going to cost hundreds of dollars). Shoot, we have people bring bikes into the shop for a simple flat tire and will be glad to let it be checked into the wait line.
Your gain, enjoy.

Gah! I use to own one of these in Celeste back in the 80's and am dying to find one again now. I see these posts are from quite some time ago now though. Anyone in the Kingston, Ontario area have one and looking to sell it by chance. Small or medium frame?

Picked up Bianchi Campione D'Italia today. One owner - in his 70s now, did not have a chance to meet him, was dealing with his son.
He emailed me in response to my wanted ad. I asked for some pictures and upon seeing this beauty - explained to him what they have, how much they can get for it (as is and refurbished) and send my offer as well. He accepted and I am super excited - I was afraid (based on the angle and the pictures he sent that it would be too big for me) but turns out it is my perfect size. Once they are done with house move - he is pretty sure he has original saddle and pedals and will mail them to me.
Anyway - enough of my happy rumble, I have many questions :-)
Bike appears to be mostly original and I would like your expert opinion on several things. All original pictures are here https://1drv.ms/1gkBQ7O (huge resolutuon so you can zoom in).
Currently on the bike - according to seller it was purchased mid-end 80s:
Miche QRs and I assume Miche hubs (have work "Touring" on them and "PATENT" under it)
Rims - no indication of make or model
Tires - Michelin Select Sport 700x20
I pumped them and took bike for a quick spin around the block and they roll exceptionally nice.
Unknown seat post, badly scratched but I think restorable, 27.2
Brakes - Modolo Mach 1 (I think I had same on my Bianchi Quattro)
Levers - I assume Modolo as well with non-fitting DiaCompe hoods
Housing, bottle holders - with Bianchi name on them
BB - did not take apart yet but does not look like 70mm, I think it is 68mm, will measure again when bike is apart.
Tubing indicated Bianchi Formula II, Columbus - main three tubes, butted. Since it say Columbus I assumed it was made in Italy but if BB is 68 - Taiwan or Japan? No markings on BB outside - may be spindle has some indication
Handlebars - "Champion", did not take bar tape off yet to see if there are other markings.
Headset - Ofmega, stem - Bianchi, no other markings (again-looks very similar to the one I had on Quattro)
Pedals - unknown cheap looking plastic but with leather straps, Celeste color
Freewheel - no idea yet, will see tomorrow
Rear dropouts - Gipiemme
Campagnolo RD, FD and downtube shifters - any thoughts on what model and year?
Crankset - Stronglight, thoughts on what model?
S/N L.8 on non-drive side and 4667 on the drive side - does it help to determine the year?
Seat post lock - does it look original to you? It is very tight fit - almst touches seat stays, make is Kalloy
Overall it feels a bit lighter then my 1987 Premio (probably mostly due to components - I think Premio in it's orignal state weighted about the same) - will get exact weight tomorrow. On the road - feels way more comfortable, agile and faster then Premio (probably due difference in rims and tires as well - 700x20 vs 700x25 with puncture protection on Premio).
I am absolutely in love and can't wait to get my hands on it tomorrow.
BianchiGirl, I sure hope you will chime in - would love to hear your opinion (especially on what year) and how different is this Canadian beauty vs same year/model US?
