Bianchi ID?

Can anyone kindly help me ID this Bianchi I picked up? Mainly interested in the model name and year.

Cromor sticker on seat tube. Campy Daytona group. I don't think the wheels are original.

Nice looking Bianchi but a few things don't add up. Chrome stays are very out of place on a CroMor frame as is the Reparto Corse sticker.

However you left out one detail that identifies this frame. That oversized and ovalized downtube. That identifies this as a '92-94ish SBX frame set, which is my understanding was built with SLX using a oversized DT custome drawn for Bianchi.

They were available as a frameset or with various kits depending on the year.

Thanks for the info! So you think the Cromor sticker is incorrect? That's weird right?... if anything I would expect someone to change the sticker to a higher grade tubing rather than lower, as Cromor is to SLX. The downtube is ovalized toward the BB. Is there anything else I can look for (SN?) that will provide confirmation?

T-Mar might be able to shed some more light with the serial number.

I would suspect someone just put the CroMor sticker on because they had it. When you do you next overhaul look for the ridges/rifling in the BB area.

That isn't a crack on the seat lug is it?

That's just a scratch on the seat tube.

Thanks. While searching for more info I found a couple frames that look similar with Cromor stickers.

No I bought it in Connecticut, the bike has a sticker from a CT bike shop so I think was originally from CT, though of course it's possible that it was imported.

Yes, we've seen similar frames (i.e. Cromor, chromed forks and stays, ovalized downtube at bottom bracket) from the UK. This one is identified as a Campione d'Italia.

I wish that was my size.

I was thinking about this and something bugged. After seeing your's and T-Mar's post I started rummaging in my catalog stash. In '93 there was a separate and rather largish Reparto Corse catalog and guess what? Yesss. There is a Cromor Veloce 8v TSC model listed. The frame is 'exclusive designed' Cromor in SuperSet 2 hence the slightly oversized and ovalized DT.

Have you ridden this yet?

Excellent, thanks for the info! I only gave it a short test ride as it's not my size. It's going up for sale here in NYC (craigslist). I was going to offer it to you for sale but looked at you bikes in your profile and it looks like you ride a bigger frame (this bike is a 53cm c-t).
