Excellent job though.

Geez thanks, that made my day! Well I have some jiggles to lose not as visible in the pic. It is getting much harder to drop the weight though. Will see when I get to 160 or so

well its been awhile as i have been very busy getting back to work over the road and that has killed all my riding time. I am in the process of getting ready for my trip of my life from seattle to key west and on to the dry tortugas for a weekend of camping leaving next may..ish.. i have the wifes permission to go it alone. I am down from 320 to 280 and still feel like i'm 350....but i do have a trek 3 series i keep here in the truck with me for when i'm on down time.......

everyone has done such a awesome job with it all that i feel like i have fallen by the wayside........ but alas i will reach my goal if for no other reason than simply because i can....

I don't know that I have ever posted in this forum but this thread in particular has been pretty motivational in my weight loss. If this week goes as planned I will drop out of Clyde status by the weekend.

Here I am at ~260 June of last year size 40. The most I ever saw on a scale was 278 the December before that.
Its a picture from the first day of my new job. I don't have to many pictures from or an exact weight because I avoided scales and cameras like the plague.

I didn't start actively trying to lose wight until about June of this year. Here I am just a few min ago at 201 and size 34 tied on with a belt.

Hey everyone, I'm 6'3 and hovering around 340lbs. I've been pretty depressed lately on account of personal issues dealing with women so I've lacked motivation to get back out there and ride.
I'm down about 20lbs still from last years choice to cut out soda, meat, and fast food altogether but it's time to get back on the bike. Since I'm as late in the season as I am, I'm going to join a gym as well.

pretty recent pic:

Former Clydes here. The end of August '10 I was put on a new diabetic med which has a great side effect--it drastically reduces your appetite. I began to loose weight and started walking--took it slow and built up over time. By March of '11 I'd gone from about 251 down to 183--at 5' 7".

I developed a foot issue, and being diabetic, I have to be very careful of my feet. I decided to take up biking. Right now I ride 20 miles per day, 5 to 6 days a week and avg, distance ÷ time, 16.2 to 16.5 mph. Right now I'm 156 lbs with a stomach like a shar pei dog--small price to pay for much better health. The wife complains I'm getting too boney, but I'd like to maintain a 153 to 155 lb range. Unfortunately, I don't really have any pics I can find, but may find some later.

The other day a person who knew me years ago stated that she didn't even recognize me. I had to be introduced.

That had to be a great feeling. Congrats! Losing roughly 100 lbs is quite an accomplishment.

Yes, it is a great feeling. I feel SOOOOOO much better than I have in literally decades. Walking made me feel a lot better each and every day, but biking has made me feel even better. I am determined as heck to keep the new vigor and health I have now.

That parrot is a pretty unfortunate side effect. Did you know that was going to happen when you started your weight loss?

Last January I topped out at nearly 290.

Pic from mid March:

From October 1, 2011 after finishing my first metric century ride:

Now I am right at 250. Have ridden for 1936 miles since the end of March when I started keeping track. Best month was last @ 466.

Bravo!

How big were you in the first picture? It looks like between the first and second photo you lost weight and gained a neck. :-)

I know I was close, if not over 500 lbs. (my tux jacket was a size 70 and it was loose compared to the fitting I did in Feb 2010 so I was trying once I hit my peak). I didn't see the doc to get my weight "officially" done until mid-July and weighed in @ 492 at that visit but I had been really watching what I was eating and had been doing walking at the gym.

From Aug 2010 to Feb 21, 2011, I lost 70 pounds. From Feb 21 (surgical date) to just this last Friday, I have lost another 117 pounds. 25 pounds since I started biking in August.

My wife tells me that I have some definition to the tops of my thighs now but there is so much loose/extra skin, I think she is just trying to make me feel good

1st pic - 6XL clothes, 2nd 4XL, 3rd 2XL

I'm sure convincing the kids that personal fitness is an important merit badge is a bit easier when they see you actively trying to get in shape. Keep up the good work!

This^^^^^
is some of the most powerful motivation that I have. We take an oath or promise to among other things keep ourselves physically strong; it is best to lead by example.
