20 miles at 20mph and down 17 pounds!

Hi Folks,

Last night was a mile stone for me, I went out and I managed to do 20 miles in an hour. This includes a couple of stop lights but overall I had mostly green lights. I was riding at around 18mph on the way out into the wind and then 22mph on the way wback with the wind. That is the fastest sustained ride I've ever done and it felt great. And to cap off a great weekend(I got promoted on Friday so it started well). I weighed myself this morning (I only weigh on the first of the month) and I'm now 248lbs, down from 265 from June 1st when I cut out my afternoon dessert with coffee.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Outstanding!

I've never seen an average above 14.2 - way too many traffic lights and errant cabs around here.

Congrats on that fantastic ride stat.

I am with Air on this one. 14.7 is my all time best and I have only maintined or gone down from there. I watch other's accomplishments from this forum and I get depressed. Is it condusive to my bike and area topo? I am on a Giant Mtn Bike with hybrid tires. kinda slick on top and knobbed on the sides. I take them to about 65# for the street rides. The area where I ride is very hilly. Is that the factor that makes comparisons hard? I get some 35mph speeds but I also spend a lot time on 300-400 ft climbs.

Nice going! The only time I ever see sustained speed like that is pre-dawn on the MUP, before the zombies have woke up, and I can rip along on my road bike. Too many street lights around here to keep it up anywhere else.

Impressive. My record is 16 average MPH over 20 miles. Did it once. Normal is 14.5 - 15. You are really doing great.

I did a 16.7mph metric about a month ago, but the hill profile was no where near the 5 digit mark. I think it was under 2000' total.

Congrats! My fastest ride is 18.6 mph over 16 miles with some rollers. I'm working on getting up to that magic 20 mph avg on that route...
