Clydesdales/Athenas Post your JAMIS bikes!!!!
Since there are a lot of other posts about different brands, it is time for the Jamis riders to post pictures of their bikes. We own three, but I will only post my road bike for now. The other two are hanging in the garage above my motorcycles that won't be out for a while because of the snow and ice.

I'm at home, so these are the only two pics I have available.
The Quest I bought last summer. It's the early 2006 model, before they switched from a triple to a compact.
Steel is real!

I like the Quest!!!!
It looks like there are only two Jamis owners. I will have to take pictures of our other two Jamis bikes just to get it to look better for Jamis.

My old reliable Jamis AL Durango. Purchased around '96 with some lottery winnings. Casual rider until 2001, when I started some serious cycling for my health. Became my first / primary / only commuter in '03 with about 4000 miles that year.
Still enjoy riding it.

Just wondering: how much post ride TLC do you need to give to a steel bike? I keep reading how smooth the ride is but I wonder if moisture. rain, grit, etc... is a more serious problem vs. the aluminum bikes.

Sorry I should have said, it's a 2005 Jamis Coda Elite. They had some left at the warehouse, so I got a good deal. The 2007 were out, but they keep cutting back, so I got this one for $900. It has 631 tubing as well as other things, that the new ones don't have.

I always liked these just wish I had an LBS that would get the bike. The two within 50 miles of my house only bought the cruisers.

Once or twice a year I clean it when it gets disgusting.
I don't know what it's like where you live, but there are tons of 30 year old steel bikes cruising around here.

jaxgtr and piper chuck,
Are your Jamis dealers only carring the cruiser/comfort bikes, and they won't get in any of the other bikes???? My Jamis dealer, who is an hour away from me as I live in a small town in rural Iowa, has everything on the show room floor that he can get, except for the high dollar Jamis bikes, but can have those in less than 3 days in most cases. He does not have the biggest building in the world, so he has a few of everything in the show room and then has the boxed up bikes in the basement for different sizes that are needed.
Does your Jamis dealer carry more than one brand, or are they setup just for the cruiser/comfort people???

I guess it depends upon the person. If I ride in the rain, I clean the bike up. If I ride my comfort bike on the limestone trails, I clean the bike, clean the chain of the dust and re-oil. I don't think there would be a problem, as long as you do the normal and basic cleaning of the bike. I would do the same thing if it was aluminum.

If I didn't already have a good idea of what I needed for sizing and fit, couldn't find reliable information about the specific bike, or wanted/needed support from a local shop for tuning then I would have bought locally.

I misunderstood your earlier posting.
I think I would still buy from my Jamis dealer that is over an hour drive from me. I think he would treat me right and get the correct sizing. If I knew the proper sizing, and everything, I might buy on-line, but only if I was buying a very high dollar bike, and I knew that I could save hundreds of dollars. But, I would give my dealer the chance to match the price first. Mine already beat the prices on the bicyclebananas.com web site for bikes that are over a year out of date.
I don't have the confidence in my bicycle knowledge at this point to do it either.

If there had been a Jamis dealer within an hour, I probably would have gone there. In my case, 90 miles equates to about 2 hours and that was beyond what I was willing to do. I had already spent countless hours driving to at least 10 local shops to see what they had. If one the local shops had a deal on another bike that was even close to what I got for the Quest, I would have bought locally. I figure I saved a couple hundred $. BB just happened to have what I considered a really good price on the Quest (I noticed their prices right now aren't as good as what I got last summer) at a time when the local shops were either out of stock on my size or were still clinging to retail pricing. I even tried the Trek dealer that I've been going to for years. They had NO bikes in my size, but took my name and number and promised they would call me when they got some. After waiting a month for a call I figured they didn't want my $...

That is better than the local Trek dealer for me. I haven't gone back in the store, and I don't plan on it. Even if I have to get TREK parts for a family member, the Trek store of Omaha will not be getting my business.

The yellow tandem isn't a Jamis, but the 40 black cruisers behind are all Jamis Taxis:
