Did my first Metric Century today.

This mornings ride got kinda doubled this morning. We started riding this morning and there were some grueling hills that had to be climbed. I was prepared for hills, I brought my touring bike instead of the road bike I normally ride. Get through the first hour, not really feeling good at this point, was kinda hurting for some reason. Get back on the road and keep on pushing on. Get to mile 22 and take a break. This break, I am feeling pretty damn good, so I contemplate separating and riding to the next town over and then back to the house. I decided to go ahead and finish the planned ride out. I was thinking about going ahead and getting some more miles by riding back into town. That added 24 more miles to the 32 we just rode. I was starting to feel the wall at about mile 52. I get into town, and I am about 7 miles short of the metric. I decided to ride some routes around town that ride sometimes to get the remainder of the miles in. My body is definitely feeling the ride. I did manage to avg 13.4 mph on the trip. I am very happy with the ride and I am extremely confident that I will be able to the century coming up when the weather gets cooler. The temperature started out at 78* at 7 this morning. At noon it was 95*. I finished the ride at 1:15 this afternoon, and I am worn out from it.

Bikes: Had a Surly Cross Check - was totaled in recent accident. Sadly now just a Fuji Crosstown as a backup bike.

Congrats to you~! Hopefully I will not be too far behind you - still waiting to be *allowed* to ride again. Now to work on your real century

There is a group of us that are going to do a century probably October, November. I am going to do mine before the year is up. There is definitely 3 of us doing the century with a possible fourth. The good thing about doing it with the group is we are going to have SAG. I am pumped about it now, now its just sit and wait for the time to do it.
