I tried this challence several months ago and came up way short. This time I'm a physical wreck with both ankle and lower back injuries and my weight at an all time high (probably 400...even riding a bike hurts) so I'm going to set a more conservative goal: 50 miles in April.

I met my 100 mile for last month with 147.33 ... so going to shoot for 200 this month. Spring training series is making this alot easier to do.

GOAL - 200mi

Goal for April is 1,000 miles and 50,000 ft of climbing. Just to change things around a bit am using my Cross bike for my commute (44 miles R/T) this month. Cross bike has chunkier tires and will let me hit some of the dirt trails on the way home for a little offroad fun.

I'm in for the Spring Classic and Velobici challenges too. Last I checked I was 13th and just a few Kms short of finishing on Velobici.

I'm in for April again.

Took the bike out for a quick errand today. Reasonably fast out, slower back because of the devilish headwind.

Then borrowed some narrower tyres from the LBS to see how they would work, and lowered the handlebars. After a mile I'd picked up a small stone that caused a puncture. So I'll be taking the borrowed tyres back and buying some - for all it's a bit of a punt if I don't like them I can't be bothered with endless faffing with punctures when something so small can go through and stop me in my tracks.

Target is 300 miles for April, plus accumulated deficit to date of 47 miles makes 347 in total. If all goes well I'll be starting some brevet-length rides this month so it might just be a month where I hit the goals.

April 1 - 6 miles

Kicking Off April!

1st commute home of 2013. put in 12 miles. I did pick up a riding partner along the way. Found him on the side of the highway. I believe I will keep him as a Mascot! Pic Below

Pledged 120 -12 = 108 Remaining (4/1) (Peugeot) (9.8 avg/1:12:57) (Strong headwind)

Thanks! Did 2 miles earlier and plan to do two more later this evening. Hopefully it won't take me too long to build back up my bicycling endurance.

Tempting as it is I believe in SMART GOALS Specific measurable ACHIEVABLE relevant and time based. Since I just started a new job where I have to work longer hours I'll not be setting such a hard goal; 500 is enough even though I am signed up for the challenge it really is a matter of if........

4-1 good start with 70.3 miles.

I'm in for another 400 this month. I'm going to have to take my bike in for some work sometime this month. I have a back up bike but it's not nearly as comfy. So that might slow me down a little.

After not being on the bike for several weeks I hope to ride tomorrow. I need to maintain at least what ground I gained this winter so I better try to squeeze in at least 250 miles. So, that is my goal.

Made a few tweaks to the bike and took them out for a run to see how they fared. Initial impressions were favourable but hard to compare like with like over any period because of monstrous headwinds that just didn't let up. The ride wasn't as long as I'd originally planned but I ended up fiddling with tyres and fighting the headwind, so I didn't fancy increasing the distance I'd have to cycle back into the brutality.

April 1 - 6 miles
April 2 - 26 miles

Missed my goal last month of 500 by well a lot... I only got in 436 miles with a lot of excuses (sick, travel, vacation, etc..). So lets target 500 again in April and hope that I will actually be able to make this one.
