we have a cooling trend for the next two days, from 80* monday to high of 64* today Maybe I'll wear gloves on my lunch ride. Then warm back up for the weekend

I thought about packing my running gear this morning, but thought about how much that first mile will suck..... Grabbed my bibs n jersey off the rack and threw them in my bike bag.

I've been doing better than expected this month:

1/2 -- 21.8 miles, 945'
1/3 -- 25.1 miles, 1453'
1/4 -- 46.8 miles, 1654' (should have eaten on this one; last hill before home was tough!)
1/6 -- 21.6 miles, 935' and in the low 30s. Clingfilm wrapping my toes in my shoes!
1/7 -- 21.6 miles, 938', also cold and no I have no cold weather gear.
1/9 -- 21.6 miles, 938'. Weather warmed up and ran it as a tempo ride.

There's a pattern in my riding

158.4 miles
6,887' of climbing.

I'm targeting 600km. Next week is a lot of work travel, so got to stack in the miles early.

It's chilly (but not like the east coast of Canada and the States, it wasn't raining yet and the wind had finally calmed down from overnight so I got up off the couch and went out for a ride. It was great at the start because I had a tailwind and did great along the waterfront. The waves still coming over the sidewalk in places. I did an out and back and that meant I was riding into a headwind coming home. That's a workout I'll tell you. I got in almost 20km.

January 4 -14.23km

second ride today - 8km
January 6 - 25km
January 10 - 19.7km

MTD -99.7 km

Well, I'm back from a week with a low grade flu. I'm glad that it wasn't one of the serious strains, but it was bad enough to keep me off of the bike.

I was relieved to find out that I hadn't forgotten how to ride the rollers and I thoroughly enjoyed riding them!

12 fun filled miles in the basement today.

Goal: 250 miles
MTD: 73.5 miles

Starting to doubt I'm going to get more than a handful of miles this month. Hurt my back, and really hurt my shoulder moving furniture. Luckily we have a car borrowed until almost the end of the month, I might need all that time to heal. Not minding missing the locally windy and quite rainy commutes, but REALLY missing riding. I'd prefer to cycle than drive. Grrr...

1/11 -- 38.7 miles, 3494'. Testing myself, my gearing, and my nutrition on some longer climbs. Fun stuff.

217 miles, 11,696' of climbing this month.

Trying for 600km, for the Strava "Prove It"

With winds ranging from 25 to 35 and gusts to 55mph, and rain, I figured it was a great day to ride the rollers. 15 miles for today.

1-1: 21.1 miles
1-11: 6.9 miles with wife & new bike shakedown.

I'm learning that road bike geometry is... different. I need to make a few adjustments for comfort. Also need to change the ghastly shifters for a set of stem friction shifters...

My roller ride on 1/11 made me relapse with whatever bug I had. Bummer. So I've been off the bike for four days.

We had a HEAT WAVE here, it got up to 43*F!! A recent rainy weather system washed the salt off of the roads, then strong winds dried the roads off, so they haven't salted most of the road that I ride on. Yay! I got in a nice 23.5 miles ride today, and as a bonus, the SUN was shining. It was as good as winter gets!

Goal: 250 miles
MTD: 112 miles

Alright, I'm in! I decided my shoulder was healed up enough to try riding in today. It hurt a little afterward, but only hurt on the steepest hill I had to climb (only one block).

At the minimum I should put in 140 miles as long as I feel up to commuting every workday the next two weeks (if I haven't re-started too soon). I'd like to put in some extra miles on top of that, but I'll keep it modest this month and just go with taking the longer way home a few times and shoot for a do-able 150 miles for this month. I'm actually hoping to put in closer to 170, but we'll see. I think I'll prescribe myself rest on my days off this month and try and give the shoulder half a chance to finish mending. Should be able to double that mileage next month.

A whopping 9.4 miles so far!

The roads got salted into oblivion last night, so I hit the rollers for 14 miles. I might haul the bike over to Oregon to ride tomorrow, they don't salt the roads over there.

New to this group but FWIW here it goes:
This Wisconsin winter sucks.....indoor training only. High of 4 tomorrow.....no end in site.

In gym on a spinner so far 104 miles. I do not know if that counts or not but it is the best I can do with my circumstances.
I usually do 1 hr - 12.5 to 15 mile workouts on hill setting.
This spring I will hit the road with vengeance and pound the miles....but that may not be until April.

Thanks,
John S
