I too was 8 or 9 at that time.

I still think that song is golden... and that Betty and Veronica are hot.

@AlmostTrick, I feel the same, and I think it's because those feelings were created when we were so impressionable. This weekend, my wife and I were watching Mad Men, and I think 1969 might be my favorite year for fashion.

I still have some of the original Archie comic books from the 60's/70's. Archie and Reggie were always dating the girls... who could easily get the boys attention in their tight pants, short skirts and bikinis. As a ten year old boy, all I could say was Yikes!

Stop making me think about Betty and Veronica's awesome hotness. You're making me crave a chocolate bar!

Someone should create a poll: Betty or Veronica?

I'm a Veronica guy myself.

Both excellent links. Thanks, AusTexMurf.

One point that really hit home was the one about not going cold turkey by completely swearing off sweets. Yesterday, after 7 1/2 days on the wagon, I treated myself to a 3-pack of those airy, nutty Ferrero Rocher truffles, just because I didn't think deprivation was going to work in the long run. They were good, but not the euphoric rush I was expecting, so now I'm satisfied and I think I can probably go twice as long without craving sweets again.

You're right. It's been so long I forgot about that. Veronica was dumping Archie every other week!
