Fahk, Rain AGAIN!

Here it is 4:30 and once again the sky is turning black out my window. Seriously it seems like every day for the last 2 weeks this has been the weather pattern. Not that I mind riding in the pouring rain or on wet roads...I kinda like it actually.

I just feel bad for my bike getting all wet. I want to keep it in nice shape and not promote rust. I generally wipe it down with a clean shop towel when I get home to dry off any accumulated water, but is there anything else I should be doing to keep it as nice as I can?

Hope, if you've got a leather saddle that it doesn't get soaked. That'll really fahk it up fast. You'd wanna treat the leather to keep it in good shape. I'd be cautious about grime on the drivetrain. Seems wet weather makes road grime stick there.

Me, personally, I like riding in the rain when it's warm out on the trip home.

The only thing the rain should effect is your chain. Just have to wipe and lube more often. If you have a quick-link you could even get radical and plop the chain into some jar of water repelling lube stuff for the night, letting the grit sink to the bottom.

I'm pissed. It started raining about 15 mins before quitting time. Normally I'd just work late till it slowed down and ride home or drag the bike on the emptier post-rush hour trains. But I had a dr.'s appointment and they switched me from tomorrow to today, so I had to go...chained the bike up in my office and rushed to the subway - and slipped in a huge puddle on the shiny tile floor as I was trying to step around tons of people hogging the stairway to keep dry. I mean I went DOWN! Whump! My head didn't hit the ground But I felt my brains rattling around a bit. Damn MTA - I should sue them for negligence. You'd think they'd maintain their stations with all these fare increases, etc...

deez what? Rain does bite! Especially when systems develop right overhead and you don't see it coming. No way to plan for that.

I plan for exactly that. I keep lightweight packable raingear in a pannier on my bike whenever I ride.

If you hate rain don't come to New Zealand. Two weeks? If only it was just two weeks....

The recent hail and forked lightning has been fun too

Since the beginning of summer (June 20 I guess), we had 46 days of rain here in Qc City, and after our 500+ cm of snow this winter, people are starting to get angry about the clouds! My cycling shoes are

I think it has rained for more than 90% of my two-a-week rugby practices this summer... Oh, well, what ya wanna do???

It's been raining here for two weeks as well. Sometimes it will tease me and be clear during the early afternoon but then rains immediately once work is over. Tonight I'm going for a ride regardless of what is falling from the sky
