LOL. I too am wondering why Selle SMP made that kind of design for the seat nose. What makes it a comfort saddle I guess.

Yes, that's Selle SMP TRK for touring model. It is indeed a really comfortable saddle in my experience. If you want to go for long haul, low-to-mid speed (up to 25mph), this is definitely one to consider. Not the lightest touring saddle around, and not high speed (racing kind) riding style AFAIC.

The design actually makes sense to me - no smacking your back with the nose of the saddle getting on from a stop. But, it's just too goofy looking (nothing personal), and I generally could care less about bike aesthetics

No offense taken here. and I totally agree with you. On the backside department and the soft area, comfort is top priority.

If it works, they might as well just chop the nose off, no?

I think it looks kinda cool as is. Different, that's for sure.

The sides aren't actually wavy - that's an optical artifact of the covering.

It's hard to judge scale with this bike, but inside it's a drop bar road bike. The windshield is forehead height when I'm in the drops with almost parallel back.
Does your head stick out the top? If it didn't I'd be constantly thinking, "I'm gonna get t-boned, I'm gonna get t-boned,...". Aren't crosswinds an issue? I'd love to see a pic of you actually riding this.

This was an earlier one, a couple of years ago. The windshield on the current one is about 2-3 inches higher than the red one in the video although I can easily see over the top without really shifting much.

I know I posted 'some pictures' earlier of my bicycle - but this is how it looks 'fully loaded' for a ride, and at the time of day that I usually end up riding The 'shiny' thing hanging on the handle bar is my helmet with it's reflector strips...

that so looks like it would be fun. I rode a fat bike around a parking lot once. I wish I had some snow to test it out on.

I left work early and was rewarded with this breathtaking sunset over the semi-frozen Hudson (not that leaving work early requires a separate reward):

What's with handlebar mitts? My hands do just fine with normal winter gloves down to -10 or so, and beyond that I'd just layer a thin under armor running glove under my heavy winter gloves.

Anyways here's my bike how I rode it for today's commute. Skipped the gym today so ditched my rear rack for the seatpost bag. Felt a little faster going up the mild hills on my commute, was nice.

Circulation must be different for different people. Below freezing, I have ski gloves and wool liners and I still lose my fingertips after a little while.

I always felt like mine was bad in my hands and feet, and chalked it up to being well over 6' tall. Reading some of the threads in winter cycling and commuting has made me realize maybe others have it even worse than me. I do fine wearing the light and minimal Merrell Trail Glove 2 and dollar store socks down to the 5-10 degree range, which is about where I think about doubling up on socks. I see others that wear thicker shoes with wool socks and still strap on shoe covers if its below freezing.

Just hard to imagine needing something that big and bulky for my hands I guess. I haven't had a single day yet where I've wanted to layer my thin under armor winter running gloves I jog in with my large, thick camping gloves I use for cold evening commutes. One solid pair of insulated wind / water proof gloves is all I need.

leegf, that's a beautiful picture! And given how often I am disappointed with sunset photos I take, I can only imagine how fantastic it looked in real life!
