Just finished building up this Velo Orange Campeur. Am pleased with how I solved the problem of my rear bag rubbing against the brake cable. I set up a Sunlit mini front rack on the rear and the bottom bag strap perfectly attaches to it! Keeps it off and the color matches on my bike.

Nice! I got a SuperSport DBX as well! Had to rebuild the wheels as the hubs started leaking grease and the rims were a bit shoddy. Which fenders are those? I can't for the life of me find full coverage fenders that will mount to the seat stays with my rack already accommodating the eyelets. Those look like they fit the bill of what I need.

Getting them on bikes would enable me to sell our 2nd car although I don't know what they look like, I rarely get to use the cars right now, my requests either get bumped or when my turn comes up, I head out to the driveway to find it empty.

This is a "franken build". I got the frame on sale from Nashbar ($75), everything else is either from eBay, CL or bike swaps.
The Avid BB7 disc brakes are phenominal.

Sure thing! They're Power Grips and I've been using them for many years. These happen to be the argyle version, only because I found a used set at the local bike co-op (after I'd already bought another set from Amazon!). I don't understand why more people don't use them, but guess I'm weird. I introduced my son (a dedicated bike only transportation guy) and he loves them too. Must be genetic
Those look quite tempting. And right now that is cold as hell I would like to do something for the bike instead of "on" it

The tires are 700x40 Kenda Kwests, they came stock, as did the cool looking (but complete boat anchor) generic deep V wheelset with Quando hubs. All I replaced, were the stock riser bars and weirdly long stem and tiny BMX brake lever, with a shorter Soma Shotwell stem, Soma bullhorns, and a Tektro cross lever. Added some 105 pedals I got a great deal on via CL, new Planet Bike Cascadia 45mm hybrid fenders, new Light & Motion VIS 180 tail light, and threw on an old Timbuk2 saddle bag. I also have a frame-fit pump for it now, Zefal HPX classic.
It weighs upwards of 26lbs as configured which is a bit ridiculous... cheapo steel frame. But it rides surprisingly well and hasn't given me any problems yet; got it in September and have put around 1000 miles on it so far.

26 pounds is pretty light, especially for a commuter bike. I like to ride fixed sometimes, but I'm not a fixed-gear zealot. I'm slowly building a lightweight fixie, using a 1974 Raleigh International frame-set. It's full Reynolds 531 and pretty light.

Here are some pictures of a Surly Ogre that is my new commuter. The build includes a Rohloff IGH, Dynohub, White Industries crank, Velocity Blunt rims, Avid BB7 brakes. The frame is 24" and it came in at 36.75lbs. The build replaces a LHT and after about 300 miles I find it just as fast (or slow and more fun.

I've got 6 bikes, and 5 of them have Brooks saddles. The one on the Nishiki I bought new, but three of the ones on my other bikes I picked up cheap off Craigslist, swap meets, etc.

Just picked up this 2012 GT Zum City Bike from Performance. Ship to store, they waive shipping and put it together for you. $300 + sales tax, out the door.
Single 46t chainring, 8 speed cassette 10-30t. Tires are 700 x 40c, fat enough for the trails, not bad at all on the road. I think they smooth things out a bit compared to skinny tires.
The low gear gets me up the hills that have been my bete noir up to now. That was my main worry. And the top gear is tall, tall. Plenty of steps between. I love riding this thing more than I expected to.
As you can see, I have already put some junk on it.
