Thanks for the heads-up or bottoms-down for the saddle info. So far no issues with the new seat. My old saddle definitely didn't agree with my posterior.

Necromancer Pugsley is ready for commuter duty. I have about 1mm clearance between the rack and the side of the fenders, I'm glad I didn't make them any wider. The orange wheel stripe is actually red, the red reflective tape just looks orange when the camera flash goes off. The rear wheel is a bit out of true radially, but I'm going to wait until my winter tires come in before fixing it. The wheels won't fit in my truing stand with the tires on, and my truing stand is old enough that the extension kit Park sells, won't fit on it.
I ordered a Garmin Edge 500 so I won't have to figure out how to get a wheel sensor to work.

Added a new member to the family this week, Batavus Allure.. quite nice bike, but I still need to fix a couple things here and there, my older gazelle will be staying at my university for when I go by car I have a way to get to class from the parking (+2km walk)

Thanks man, Its the 4th commuter bike we have, this one and the other nice one will stay at home most of the time unless we go places here in the city.. for long rides we use our road bikes or car, and at the cities were my girlfriend and I go to school we leave the other 2.

My wife's tourer/commuter on the Northern Sea coast. Black and dark green fit well the nasty grey windy weather.

It seemed that if was going to start building a bike stable again (in Europe, this time) to start with a solid performing MTB with parts that I can swap around on different frames ( XT rear mech, hydraulic disc brakes, and a front suspension fork ... not bad for the price). Also, all their frames has mounting points for a rear rack and fenders, which is a plus.
STEVENS bikes are also really good value for money.

Hey Psy... Thanks for the reply!!! I followed the link to Endless Cycles and that helped me track down Jeff Moore (who is the owner and a great guy). I had lost track of him after he left Hayward Cyclepath. All because of a picture of your pedals, Thanks again!
peedplay drillium.i got mine at endless cycles in castro valley but you can find them online for around 75 bucks or so.i got them for winter riding in my waterproof wolverines..nice fat platform works great in boots.

Riding in deep snow with the Pugsley is an odd sensation. You can feel the bike floating on the snow, yet when you pedal it just keeps going forward anyway instead of the rear tire just digging a hole.

I had the LBS give me a pair of those black platforms that clip into Shimano SPD pedals. The intent was to allow people to try out my bike without the need for special shoes.
I had some issues with my pedals icing up yesterday, so I'm going to leave the platforms in as a fall back option.

I think the deal I got on these bags, and why they were surplus, stems from them being rather poor backpacks due to the narrow shoulder straps and amount of weight they are designed to carry... I adapted the three point straps with the gear clips to serve as my top straps and this provides a quick release and removed the shoulder straps.

I re-purposed the shoulder straps and generous strapping they came with and used the male clips to serve as removable deck tie downs that will clip into the smaller top loops I created for tubular items like my tent and sleeping bag as I am pretty sure there are some camping trips to come.
Am not sure I will keep the helmet webbing as it really is not that practical unless I want to carry soccer balls or whole frozen turkeys...
Will have to top load the bike to demonstrate how it works... it is pretty slick.
The only other thing I have to do is swap one of the small male ends at the bottom by the compression strap for a female clip so these can serve to secure the bags against the frame... right now they are just tied down with those straps.
You should be familiar with the set up of the bag and should see the free female end that the removable top straps will attach to... they are just tucked away in the side pocket
