Fork protection when removing wheel?

When locking my bike up, i sometimes remove the front wheel and lock it with the back, but sometimes i scratch the tips of the fork on the ground when trying to lock everything together. Is there a way to protect the tips from clumsiness or unwanted hands moving the bike when Its locked?

Buy a pair of rubber cane/furniture leg tips at the hardware store. Couple of bucks.

There's a little plastic shipping do-dad that comes in most forks when they are sent. to protect the forks. I assume your dealer would have a bunch of them in the trash.
