Cannondale M500 vs. Specialized Crossraods

Alright, so I'm looking at these two bikes online at Craigslist and I'm not getting something. They are both similar bikes made by reputable bike makers from what looks like the 1990s. However, the specialized is going for $100 and the Cannondale is $250.

Both in good condition but I can only find other similar sales for the Cannondale around the $200 range but nothing on the Specialized. Am I missing something here? I'm thinking why wouldn't the two bikes be more similarly priced? Is a asking price of $250 in the ball park for this Cannondale?

I'm intention is communting about 10-15 miles round trip daily...

These are the two bikes:

craigslist is not rational, and some sellers are completely clueless about what they're selling. Locally, there's a guy trying to sell an old Raleigh Record for $200. He's been re-listing it several times a week for over a year. It's not going to sell at that price, but he doesn't seem to get the message.

Both of those bikes are good quality and not bad deals, I've had two steel Crossroads and liked them a lot.

Don't know why such a difference in price between the two bikes. I had a more recent vintage of Crossroads, (2006), and it was a really strong daily rider. I did upgrade the stock Alex rims because I kept breaking spokes, but other than that, it was pretty much trouble free. You can't really beat the price on either bike imo.

I know this avoids the question, but get the Crossroads for the price. IMHO, if they were the same price I would go for the steel frame. I have had a few Cannondales and they just ride too harsh. Have steel now and glad I went there.
