How about the most awkward thing?
Riding by a co-worker's house (right along my route to work), I happened to see him in they yard kissing his male partner goodbye in the morning. I waved at him before I realized what I was seeing, so he saw me ride by. Since he wasn't/isn't "out" (at least at work), it was kind of awkward! This is in St. Louis, which isn't an especially tolerant town. It wasn't a big deal for me (I'm a tolerant guy), but he barely spoke to me for months! Although, his pink/purple dress shirts and borderline-OCD cleanliness sure made a lot more sense to me after that morning commute.
Craziest thing?
Last night I saw a big, fat albino possum! It must have weighed 25-30 lbs. A true urban possum, living in the city. I tried to span a cameraphone pic, but it ran and hid underneath a car...

Riding like its 1990
speaking of which, once, I saw a guy in the distance walk onto the bike trail, as I watched he met his male rendezvous who gave a 'spirited welcome'.

Once while commuting in the early morning dark, I saw a car from a cross street that try to cut through traffic and get T-boned by a large pick-up going about 30-35 mph. This happened about 10-15 car lengths ahead of me. The car rolled a complete 360 degrees and came to rest right side up on the traffic island in the middle of the road.I was the first to check on the driver, he was shook up (obviously) but okay because he had his seat belt on and his air bag had deployed.

When you described the scene, that's exactly what came to mind. I hate riding down there. I'll take my chances on 1st Avenue every time before riding Alaskan Way.
I no longer live in Seattle, but one of my summer evening training rides used to be the loop down to Alki and back from where I lived just east of U-Village. The worst part of the ride was between Safeco Field and the swing bridge. Everything else was great. I've always thought that it was a bad idea to run a bike path along that stretch of road considering the type of vehicles and drivers that use that part of town.

So far this has been the craziest.
At 4am I passed by a bus stop and saw something weird next to it. It looked like a man slouched over.
Its hard to put into words what this thing actually is, so I'll just post the pics.

- Riding along a narrow shared path, came across a trail of clothes covering a distance of 200'. Naked female? walking around somewhere?
- Seagull fly low across path, I ducked in time to watch it miss me and hit the guy I was passing on the path.
- Three squirrels chasing each other hilly nilly over the path.
- Riding home after dark, came around a bend of cycle path to find three raccoon's laying on the path. I got a helmet light after that one.
- a crow chasing a bald eagle around the skies nipping at its tail feathers.

I was riding to Kendo (Japanese fencing) practice with the sword strapped to my back only to encounter someone carrying a fencing foil traveling in the opposite direction. It was weirdly symbolic, almost as though I was "done" with fencing and "crossing over" into Kendo as shortly afterwards I got the armor. Too bad I'm not very good at it (yet)! haha
Anyway, there's the time I saw campus transportation police (not to be mistaken for the police) slap abandoned bike notices on brand-new, top-of-the-line Bianchi fixies. Then again, they got my serial number and frame style wrong I registered my bike, so it's not all that surprising.
The local squirrels have sort of inbred themselves into insanity; they've become so unafraid of humans that they dart out in front of bikes ALL the time. Sadly I ran over a squirrel's tail once.

A bit odd this morning: At the base of Capitol Hill a young woman was standing and staring directly into a flashing yellow traffic warning light that stood just about eye level. She was in her 20's I'd say, holding a bag from a perfume shop or something like that, jeans and a short sleeve shirt in 45 degree temps.Just struck me as odd at around 06:15am.

It looked like an abandoned art project. We speculated that it was placed there to gain the attention of the media.
I'll ride by there tomorrow and see if its still there.

As I'm riding home from a friend's house at 3 in the morning on a weekend night, I see a car that crashed into a power pole. There was no traffic and so no one else must have seen that crash. I didn't remember seeing him pass me so he must have been sitting there for 20 minutes. The car was still running and driver was inside. I talked to the driver to see if he was ok and he was not injured. There was minor damage so the car must have been going slow. It was obvious that the driver was drunk. He even asked if I could drive his car home. I think about it for a second, since the car was drivable and I could put my bike in his trunk and ride my bike home from his house. But I would be leaving the scene of the accident, and letting him get away with a DUI. He's obviously too drunk to drive or think coherently since he asked me, a random cyclist, to drive his car home after he crashed it. I call the police even though the driver didn't want me to for obvious reasons. I had to take his keys out of the ignition so that he wouldn't drive away before the cops came.
I wait about 10 minutes for the police, then I tell them what I saw. I see him blowing into the breathalyzer and then he gets arrested and I ride the rest of the way home. I feel proud that I helped get a drunk driver off the streets.

Had a fast wildlife enounter two days ago on my way home. Riding along my usual route - railroad tracks on my right (river to the right of the tracks). I see a deer bounding along beside me on the tracks which were about 20 feet below my elevation. It's outpacing me a bit and I"m doing around 22 on a flatish stretch. I cna tell it wants to come up and cross the road - but cars are coming behind me -- I stick my hand out to try to signal them to slow just as it comes up the hill and makes its first attempt to cross the guardrail...I think a tree/bush prevented it from doing so. I rode along slightly behind it for another 1/2 mile - and of course as cars are coming at me it decides to try to cross again (this time cloer to road level) -- I hold up my hand at oncoming traffic waving it around to try to get them to slow...fortunatley the saw me and/or the deer, becuase it flew across the road between me and the oncoming traffic and crashed up through some thick brush in a panic.

Probably the worst thing is a homeless guy dying on the railroad tracks. Passed out, eyes open, blood flowing out of the side of his mouth.
I stopped and called 911, and luckily the fire station (first responders) was only 1 block away.

I was riding home in the suburbs, and a truck with a boom lift was coming toward me. He had his boom too high and hit the electric line that crossed the street .It tore the wire down and I had to jump the curb and ditch it to avoid the live wire.
They cal me lucky ,lucky.
