No rain, didn't have enough breakfast, felt a bit slow. Good ride though.

Big headwind this morning, I hate headwinds. I left home 10-12 minutes earlier because I didn't feel like fighting it this morning and wanted to take it easy. I still managed a decent pace so the ride was quite enjoyable. Yesterday I tried the 'news paper in the shoes' trick and I can say it worked fairly well, I was soaked yesterday morning when I got to work and when I left work last night the shoes were still humid but the news paper took a lot of water. I think that if I had bring more news papers and changed it on my lunch time the shoes would've been dryer.

First commute on my new Surly Disc Trucker, and first commute in 12 days. Love the new bike - much more comfortable ride than the old bike. Finally, no elbow pain when I hit the bumps! I think I need to change the seat though, but other than that, no issues.

Fenders are coming in handy lately. Pouring rain again today almost too dangerous to ride, very low visibility with all the spray from traffic. Tomorrow looks more pleasant.

First commute since December. I've mostly been either working from home or going to worksites out of town. Started a new job about 5 km away. It was quite nice to get the old Mongoose out again.

Boy howdy the summer heat is here! Yesterday's ride home was 96, bike computer said 100 degrees at 5 pm. This morning it was about 76 but humid so I still sweat just as much as yesterday. Was already 80 when I got to work at 7:30.

Also my first close call with a car that just pulled right on out and about broadsided me from my left. Idiots who don't even look and don't even care.

It was a nice ride in this morning. Very foggy but kind of cool. I did drop my water bottle in the road and had to turn around and get it. After my shower at work I feel great.

77° with 81% humidity - it was a sauna.

Otherwise good, ride, made good time, and didn't encounter any resistance from motorists.
I'm happy with it.

Grrr ... I was hoping to ride 4-5 days this week, but 3 is the most I could muster. We keep getting waves of storms every 3-4 days, making riding unpleasant if not dangerous. Today a line of severe storms is supposed to hit right during the afternoon rush hour, with high winds, hail and lots of rain. It's supposed to be another "derecho," like the one that caused $1 billion+ damage last June, so that's nothing to fool with. So I drove this morning, despite sunny skies and dry roads.

Yesterday afternoon/evening was interesting. Overcast, mild but a strong wind from the west so it took a bit of extra effort to ride home. When I got home, my helmet and gloves were soaking with sweat so I hung them on the line. Not an hour later, the clouds opened up and the rain just poured out, not for long but lots of rain. I realized after the second similar rainfall an hour or so later that my helmet and gloves were outside. Too late!

Putting on the helmet this morning caused a rivulet of cool morning water to pour down my back, ooooooh!!!

Nice ride in this morning but forecast for rain this afternoon and evening so my helmet will never dry. LOL

Wow! I am in such a different world from many of you...just a short 4m/6.5km one-way commute each M-F.

75F/23C, humidity is high here in Washington, DC.

My workplace is only 4km away but for fitness sake, I generally take a long circle around it to enter via the back road with 16-20km routes.

It was very warm and I had a rare tailwind most of the way. When I left home I could look up and see stars but there was lighting far enough away I couldnt hear thunder. About 5 miles out hte road was wet, then dry, then a little further standing water. It was like that the whole way to work, I could smell rain most of the way, but as far as I know I did not get a single drop of rain. All the wet came from my front tire.

lol, my commute is 18km (I had to do a google conversion!) and I'm often looking for ways to make it shorter! Ride home temps yesterday were near 90F with high humidity - no spring this year, straight to summer. No ride today, offsite appointment

loved the ride this morning. Warmish & overcast, no super-close passing motorists & the rain held off.

Cheers

Mine is 24 km one way, that's as short as it gets such that I still feel safe riding. My car route is 3-4 km shorter, but I wouldn't dare go that way on the bike.

Awesome commute, perfect weather this morning with no traffic conflicts. Except that I had to detour into the grass for a large utility truck trundling down the Greenway but that was no big deal.

With my commute shortened to 7.5 miles now and without the short dirt/gravel portion of my old one, it's now taking about as long to shower and change as does the ride itself. So in theory I could save time by going really slow and wearing my work clothes ... but realistically that's probably not going to happen.

lol in Georgia? nah, you'll never get there without sweating. Just going outside this time of year for the next 3-4 months will make you break a sweat.

All was slow this morning until about 5 minutes into the morning commute, then my body came to life on the bike and the rest was bliss. This has to be one of my favorite things about commuting in the morning.
