I need a good hack...

I'd like to mount a Crane Striker Bell to my new commuter but I have a non threaded stem and the bell mounts only work with skinnier threaded stem diameters Here's a picture of the bell.

I'm wondering if I could just remove the metal backing and maybe use an O ring to secure it to the stem but I'm not sure if that would be snug enough. Any suggestions?

Several mount the bell on a Spacer for threadless headset installations..

But if a Crane brand is your desire ^^^ there you go.
