FU knee injury, excuses, polar vortexes, sickness - I'M BACK, BABY!

today was my first bike commute in over 2 months. an undiagnosed (MRI was inconclusive) and lingering knee injury from last summer kept me off the bike a lot in the fall. i would ride 2 days, then my knee would start acting up again, so then i'd back off, then i'd try again in a week or so and then more pain after a day or two. that went on for several months through the fall. then when winter slammed into us with a vengeance in decemeber, the lingering knee injury became a convenient excuse to not deal with the cold and snow. then new years, and a resolution to recommit myself to the craft. then an utterly stupid level of cold that i'm am not hard enough to tolerate followed by a bad head cold that lingered into polar vortex number two.

finally, this morning was a nice and balmy 21 degrees, i'm back to feeling 100% healthy, the knee feels great, no more freaking excuses. i rode into work.

AND IT WAS GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's best not to look back with regret to the days in the past when you didn't ride (for whatever reason) and concentrate instead on riding tomorrow. forward. always forward!

Wonderful! I needed to hear that about not regretting the days you couldn't ride. I've been sulking because I was only able to ride one day last week, and today was my first commute this week. Oh well, I can't get those yesterday's back. But, as you've said, today was glorious!

Yeah, those vortices have had me riding less than I had planned. Oh well, I'll just make up the riding later.
