Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Just give me an English threaded BB and I'm a buyer.

The problem with PF30 in a metal framed gravel bike isn't creaking, in my experience. The problem is that if you do many creek/river crossings, you have to replace your BB more often than a roadie does -- maybe a couple times per season. And replacing a PF30 BB that's been installed using the right Loctite materials is no fun and risks damaging the frameset. Spend the extra couple bucks per frameset and give me threads!

Nobody has any flavor RLT in stock.

Three dealers in the Southeast said the same thing. "Nobody has them because Niner doesn't have them." One is checking today and said he will let me know.

What? Dont let facts get in the way of a good story. Tange Prestige needs to be 'not very nice' and you are ruining that with knowledge.

Here's my new RLT Steel that I got this weekend. Definitely more robin egg blue than the promotional material, but I like it better. Rides like a dream, I love it.

Edit: apparently I'm too new to post URLs so never mind.
Apologies. I'm sure it's great stuff. I haven't actually ridden a Soma frameset. Could be they're excellent. Generally speaking steel bikes in that price range don't ride that great. A quick look shows Soma builds their frames significantly lighter than Surly does. It wouldn't surprise me if they're actually a reasonably pleasant ride. Retracted.

Schwalbe G-One 35mm tubeless come stock on it. I measured them yesterday and they are pretty true, about 35.5 mm casing to casing. The fenders actually have room for a bit more, I was surprised. Maybe even 40mms.

No worries, I love mine so I try to support them whenever I can. I had my heart set on a Surly Disc Trucker until I actually rode one and didn't enjoy it. Then someone pointed me toward the Soma Saga Disc and it was much nicer. The Wolverine is also great!

Great looking bike, biggus duckus! If you wanted to throw a rear rack on that, would you have to use the same eyelets for both the rack and the rear fenders? I was hoping they would have separate eyelets, but it's not looking that way.

The rack eyelets visible on the seatstays are not currently used. The fenders are bolted on the underside of the seatstay bridge. You can get a better look here:

Dang. I figured 35s would look tighter, given the 45mm official clearance. You think that's a "safe" conservative estimate, or a real estimate, on Niner's part?

BTW how's the ride, and how big a fellow are you?

I think 45 is fair in the sense that all 45mm's will likely fit, rather than just certain makes or models. A few more mm could probably be squeezed on but there's always some risk involved. It feels great, I've never had a tubeless setup on sub-2" tires before, and they rode over cobblestone streets like a dream at 45psi, and I could probably go lower. I am 6'2" and 185 lbs and I ride the 59cm.

Great looking bike, biggus! What size frame is that? Looks pretty big based on the head tube. (Nevermind. I see in another post it is a 59. Same size I would want)

Please keep updating your impressions as you ride it more. This and the new Specialized Sequoia are at the top of my short list.

Only way you'll get that pile of features in a Ti frameset is buying used AFAIK.

Why not? Lynskey has that.

If you want to narrow your scope to the latest fashions and trends, you can always price yourself out of a market. But Lynskey had lots of Ti frames "on sale" at their site ($1590), even cheaper at Nashbar (~$1330 on a frequent 25-30% off sale day) and even cheaper at Chain Reaction Cycles (about $1000). Not to shabby for the latest in US made Ti technology.

Apples and oranges, amigo.

Those sound like really great prices....until you look and realise those prices are frame-only no fork/headset, and Lynskey's forks don't include front fork rack points (And Nashbar's pricing is higher anyway). And further, those prices only apply to CX geometry 700x38 clearance limited frames. Not too shabby, yes. But still not a $1,500 frameset price point by a long ways. Certainly not ones with thru-axle, Di2 routing, front/rear rack/fender mounts etc. Oh yea, and those prices are for CX geometry anyway.

Sorry, I don't think I stated that correctly. I'm talking about the mounts on the lower seat stays, where your fender stays currently are connected. Is there another set of mounts down there for a rack that I'm just not seeing? From the picture, it doesn't look like there are separate rack and fender mounts on the lower seat stays. .

Oh I see. No, you will have to double them up. Not a huge deal though!

Thanks! I have to double it up on my current bike, and it is not a big deal. I was just curious. It's nice that they added the mounts on the upper seat stays though. Anyways, I hope you enjoy your new ride!

Would anyone change their mind about this frame if it was $869 plus shipping?Too good to be true? I've never heard of topfun.com but it was linked right off of what appears to be Niner's European website. When you click "Buy" on the website it takes you to topfun.I don't know. Top Fun Biking in Spain is listed as a dealer on the Niner international dealer locator but I think they are pretending to be Niner Europe when they really are just some bike shop.

Still, that's a good price. Anyone want to take one for the team and find out?

Probably an older year?

Other catch being...even new direct from a dealer, Niner only warranties their steel frames for a measely 2 years for materials and workmanship...which is pretty crap for steel IMHO
