Trackstanding for the start?

serious question: why don't riders toward the front trackstand right before the start so they don't have to clip in. is it against the rules? it'd sure help you get a jump on folks..

... seems to require a highly crowned road to work the slope , on any freewheeling bike.

nah, ive never had trouble on flat ground. and if you know what youre doing you could even do it on a downhill while using the brakes and the fork's flexibility as a springload to provide uphill movement. and the low pressure in the tires would help considerably.

Some can do it some can't. I can do it all day on a track bike if it's flat but tend to need a little help with a hill on a road bike.
