Need help converting my beach cruiser to electric.
I recently started researching electric conversation kits for my beach cruiser and I quickly got overwhelmed. Mid drive, rear hub, front hub..... Which is best? Are the batteries universal? I don't mind a little cutting and welding if I need to. I just think the E-bike cruisers are ugly so I would like to modify mine. I appreciate any help

Welcome, Linetrash.
A good place to start is to explore the pages of Grin News
No, batteries are not universal. You will want to keep your ebike as "open-source" as possible. This will allow you to mix and match components as you need and not get locked into one manufacture's setup/design.
Some things you'll want to keep in mind while researching is:
Where do you plan on riding your beach cruiser (roads, bicycle lanes, dirt paths, sand, etc.)?
How fast and far would you like to go?
What will the weather be like when your riding (windy, lots of rain, etc.)?
Do you plan on recharging at home or will you need to carry a charger to extend your range?
Do you plan on carrying anything else besides yourself (groceries, work material, laptop computer)?
Where do you plan on storing the battery on the bicycle (on the back, in the front, etc.)?
What about security of the components? Do you plan on removing the battery every time you lock your bicycle up?
What tires should you use? What happens if you get a flat tire?
These are just a few questions you'll want to keep in mind.
Keep us posted on what you find. Good luck.

and another site with an introduction and buying guide.

So you have some research to do.
