So, I am interested in a Haibike at the LBS, but...
I looked at this bike 3 weeks ago. It has a broken bracket holding the LCD display/computer control unit. Realistically, it is just the two plastic "wings" that hold it to the tube.
So, the LBS worker promised me a repair part was on order, and he would let me know when it was in and installed so I can do a test ride.
3 weeks later --- still no repair, I've been calling a couple times a week, he keeps promising me that "it's on order" or "the manager took care of it, I'll let you know".
So, not sure if it's the run-around or just lagging attention to detail on their part.
At what point shoudl I throw in the towel and look elsewhere?

If they don't want a fix to happen so that you can test it and then possibly buy it, I doubt after sale service will be that attentive either.

Possibly - the only thing about that is that it's a local chain with 6 locations. I've never been to the one where the bike is, it's their "outlet" store. The two regular stores near me both have great reputations all around, per a number of people I know.
However, true, that isn't really "proof" of anything either way - just that I have options of venues - and a lot of that just depends on how reliable the management of the shop/service dept is.
OTOH, if I'm interested in this brand, and I kinda am ... they are the lonly local dealer in my area, otherwise it's about 125 miles each way.

DITTO! You have to wonder about a dealer that won't let you test an E-bike because of a simple broke display bracket.
I'd ask him directly if you can test ride it as is with the bracket taped up. Then if you like it, tell them you won't buy it until the new bracket is installed or go elsewhere on the net and buy it at a huge discount.
It is really amzing how the service differs at different LBS's. No wonder they come and go so quickly.

Yeah, I was seriously going to say super glue ... but they have internal vendor-distributor contractual issues as well as liability issues to consider ... I know it sounds trivial on paper, but ... it's the way the game is played.

Actually, in my area, I don't know of any new ones in the past 15-20 years, OTOH the ones I knew of "back in the day" in the 90s are all still around, even after Performance moved into the area with 3 stores. Part of that is probably because the population grew rapidly with suburbanizatioin until the economic downtown of 2008-2009, and also because it's a relatively affluent suburban area.

I heard Performance was recently sold. Don't know if they will keep the name around.
Side note:
I really liked their MTX dual purpose MTB pedals with Shimano compatible clipless on one side and flats with spikes on the other. Recently scored a pair of NOS on eBay for my trail bike.
