Those words don't belong together. At least not for me........... But that probably means I'll contradict myself in the near future. Not too soon I hope!

But perhaps the subforum for electric bikes will get you more responses.

Maybe a mod will move this for you if want. Click the red exclamation in the lower left of your post and report yourself and make the request. Double post at your own risk. It's very bad form.

Oh....... Welcome to the bike forums!

My wife has a Raleigh Miseo and in Eco mode will get about 70 miles to a charge. That will be riding a 35 mile ride with about 1500' of climbing.

Nah, they're fun. And it depends on individual circumstances. People with health problems and disabilities. Commuters who want the cycling experience without being sweaty and rank at work all day, or who might appreciate the break on the commute home after a tough day. Etc. YMMV.

I am going to start out riding my e-bike as soon as my knee ortho says I can. Thst way I can choose how much or little assist based on pain level, stiffness. And if I bite off more than I can chew, I'll just full-throttle it home. I violated my own n+1 ban and bought a Radpower Mini fat folder, with pedal assist and full throttle on demand - my physical therapy bike. Came yesterday, still in the box in the back of my car.

As much as electric bikes may be offensive to some on an ethical level (okay, they really are motor-cycles) the whole electric bike revival has been the one bright spot in an otherwise level-to-down bike industry.

At the Interbike Show, bike industry show which starts tomorrow (Sept. 20th) electric bikes are going to be shown by many vendors as the best way to expand the industry. Lots of reasons, of course, but for sure electric bikes are not going away any time soon!

In terms of suggestions of brands for the OP, Rad Power and Pedego are the two that seem to be the most popular. That said, have a look at Giant too. I've been impressed by the specs of their electric bikes, though I haven't ridden one.

I rode my first e-bike last Monday, and rode probably 10 different kinds over the next couple days at InterBike. Most of them are *not* motorcycles in that the rider must be pedaling for the motor to kick in. A couple I rode had a "throttle" which allowed me to stop pedaling; those might be considered "motorcycles". As a newbie to the e-bike, I enjoyed the "assist" type better.
