Question Garmin 305 Cadence Problem

Hi folks,

Thanks again for a great resource! I was just a couple of clicks away from buying a Polar CS200, until I saw all the issues here, and the great things most had to say about the Garmin 305. Then I read GeoMan's posts, was impressed by his customer service attitude, and bought from him. It arrived promptly, and is a cool unit. I've only made two short rides, but have a problem.

The tiny piece that sends the cadence signal from the crank arm to the sensor mounted on the frame falls off. There's not much space from the hole from the pedal to where the arm is scalloped. So there's just not enough flat space to mount the unit.

Anybody else run into this? Any suggestions? I'm going to sit and stare at it for a while and see what I can come up with.

Thanks...

Polar's cadence sensor comes with a small piece of double-sided tape for the magnet, and tape to wrap over the magnet around the crank arm. Seems to work OK. Did the Garmin come with these?

Hey Cz... the Garmin comes with the double-sided tape, but not tape to put over it on the crank arm. Instead, it is supposed to use a cable tie, which I did, but it now slips, since the adhesive isn't sticking to the arm.

Thanks...

the cable ties that come with the garmin are too bulky and you don't get a clean fit.. Use slightly thinner cable ties and a little super glue on the magnet and you will be fine..
