Approaching 80yo here says "hi!" from his road and mtn bike. So, how old is "old guy?" Looks like 78yo from your username?? If so - a great acomplishment!

Anyway, this is a great forum and there are so many knowledgeable people on here. Everyone from all walks of life, all sharing a bond of bicycling, no matter what age. At 56, maybe I'm viewed as a "little kid" by others!

Welcome! I'm originally from upstate New York (Poughkeepsie area) and settled here in Richmond, VA after I retired from the USCG. Where in upstate are you from?

"Slow" is faster then "still". Sometimes overcoming stationary inertia is the toughest part, and you've already done that! I'm just 55, and I ride for health and fitness. The only thing I'm competing against is what my health would be like without riding. If you are enjoying yourself, you've already won!

So Dick's sporting Goods had the Diamondback Edgewood on 50% off for $224.98. Will get the nice disc brake Scott or Schwinn later on when they have a sale

The first bike is the one that guides you to what you want in the second bike (and maybe the 3rd, and the 4th - err . . . n+1)
