Approaching 80yo here says "hi!" from his road and mtn bike. So, how old is "old guy?" Looks like 78yo from your username?? If so - a great acomplishment!

Welcome! I'm originally from upstate New York (Poughkeepsie area) and settled here in Richmond, VA after I retired from the USCG. Where in upstate are you from?

Anyway, this is a great forum and there are so many knowledgeable people on here. Everyone from all walks of life, all sharing a bond of bicycling, no matter what age. At 56, maybe I'm viewed as a "little kid" by others!

Well, welcome anyways. You have a bit to go before you can claim you are an "old guy."

Thanks , i work as a electrical inspector, i am just getting back into biking, looking at a a Scott Sub Cross 40 or a Schwinn Searcher 3.

I had a chance to ride a Diamonback Edgewood a bit and found it great exercise and fun.

Works for me. Wife turned 67 last month, my turn next month. My road bikes range in age from 35 to 58 years.

My maternal grandfather always claimed, "I am like good wine -- I improve with age."

Welcome to the club!

Keith, are you kidding me? Small world... My older sister & brother-in-law (and our 92 yr old mom) live on a 125 acre horse farm in Brookfield, south of Utica!

"Slow" is faster then "still". Sometimes overcoming stationary inertia is the toughest part, and you've already done that! I'm just 55, and I ride for health and fitness. The only thing I'm competing against is what my health would be like without riding. If you are enjoying yourself, you've already won!
go, Go, GO!

So Dick's sporting Goods had the Diamondback Edgewood on 50% off for $224.98. Will get the nice disc brake Scott or Schwinn later on when they have a sale

Ride, RIDE, RIDE

The first bike is the one that guides you to what you want in the second bike (and maybe the 3rd, and the 4th - err . . . n+1)

That's great - I bought the wife a step-through Diamondback a month ago. She loves it. BUT, many of us find that the original bike does eventually lead to other bikes.

Welcome back to a fun thing to do. As I have posted many times------------if you set you rust. You are doing yourself a great health favor.
