I'm in, heck yeah, any excuse to eat pie. I've been riding a 40 mile loop on Saturday mornings lately. The half way point is a cafe called Wolf River Cafe, I'll be eating pie there.

I have good news and bad news. I found a place that sells pie on Saturday morning. But there is no guarantee it will be blue berry. Hey, I'm glad I found a place that sells pie. I called them today and said I'm part of a National Bicycling group that will be riding this weekend all across the nation and will stop to eat a slice of pie. The owner of this grill said he would be sure to have a piece of pie waiting on Saturday morning.
I didn't say how large the group was.

Large -- you mean in terms of how many of us there are, or large as in our average weight?

I was all set to make a nice, longish ride to a diner in a nearby town in hopes they would have some kind of pie. But then my cycling club made plans to have a work party on our favorite mountain biking trails Saturday morning. So I bought some frozen blueberries, a pie shell and a half gallon of vanilla ice cream. I'll make my own pie and declare my front porch to be the Bulldog Cafe' for Saturday afternoon. I'll ride 10 or so miles, stop by for pie and then ride some more. Given the timing, I'll probably strap a radio to the rack and listen to Larry Munson describe the play-by-play of the UGA-UAB game as I ride. "Loran, whattayagot?"

Our American Legion is throwing their annual Poker Run on the 16th. We ride the event on our bicycles right along with all the Harleys. It's been fun, and they treat us great! Yeah, I'm in. I'm not sure I'll be able to find blueberry pie, but I'll sure look hard for some!! Blueberry pie is my favorite!! Yummers!

Real Pie Riders bake their own....although the romance of stopping at some rural cafe out of Fannie Flagg or a knock-off of Irma's has a certain romance...... $.10 cuppa coffee and two-bits for pie. And a waitress with attitude and a soft heart for sweaty old farts in too-tight lycra.

I just got home from the grocery story. Mrs. Smith had already prepared my pie -- all I have to do is heat it up. (Turns out my daughters have other plans already anyway...lol)

How Bad's the Coffee? - John Hiatt

How long you been workin' here? Well what do you know about that?
its been thirty years or so since i bothered lookin' back
it was right in front of me but now i'm runnin' behind
to get my butt caught up well i need a cup
of the nastiest s&!* you can find

CHORUS:
how Bad's the coffee? how good's the pie?
if you call me " honey" honey, i'm gonna cry
a whole lot of sugar, a little pinch of salt
you cut my bitter with your sweet talk

Well, I just got invited to a meeting tomorrow for the Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas at a pie-serving location about 8 miles from home. It must be God's plan. So, to quote Val Kilmer in Tombstone, "I'll be your huckleberry."

I do my job without the promise, or delivery, of any inducements beyond my weekly paycheck and the thanks of the citizens of the City of Los Angeles. Now if you boys and girls want to ride your bikes around the community with the stated intent of gorging yourself on Blueberry pie after the alotted distance, which I believe to be 15 miles, then I can't stop you. But Mister, you and your lefty friends better observe every traffic signal, every stop sign, and every speed limit...because a man in blue will be watching your every step.

I didn't arrest this kid for riding his bike in an unsafe manner before eating pie...

...and this is what happened to him when he grew up.

No pie on the ride! But while helping at the Legion's BINGO on Sunday night the ladies brought in a blueberry pie! I had a slice then. Is that a day late and a pie short?!
