Need - 'How To' add muscle as an 'Over 50'?
I went out to crit practice, yesterday evening and ...
yadda yadda yadda
just saw the other thread regarding 'Building Bulk', seems like the same Q, so since I can't delete this thread, I'll just wait til a mod hits this and does the 'delete' for me...
Mods - delete this pls

You are out there - I would consider that pretty good in and of itself. I'm 55 and considering dipping my toe in the racing waters although I have never done it before - you are way beyond my imagination.
Last year I lost a fair amount of weight (5-10 lbs) with no problem. This year, I've gotten a lot stronger (average speed up a couple MPH), but my weight has stayed the same. I have noticed that my quads and hamstrings are getting pretty stocky. I'm not sure that I can explain this, but maybe riding more aggressively this season is building muscle? I was actually hoping to end up like those skinny climbers, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

Since my mileage is still limited by a June crash, I'm planning on doing a "Floyd Landis" diet and just not eating for a day or few. I figure if I can fast a day per week, I'll at least get a jump start on getting where I want. Before the "Nutrition Nazis" jump all over me, let me say that, yes, I know that this isn't the prudent course, but it's worked for me before. I'll keep doing my weight training and what aerobics I can and cut calories to keep from gaining any more weight.
