* Ripoff Craigslist Bike For Sale
https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/bik/904979478.html
$200
Like to find this bike a new home because I really don't ride it often enough. I have two other bikes... It's an early '90s Peugeot Mohave MTB which has had very little use. A friend of mine bought it new, rode probably less than 200 miles, didn't care for cycling, and then stored it in his garage ever since. A few months ago, he sold it to me. I've put another 100 miles on it, installed a rack, new inner tubes, and had it checked out at my LBS who gave it their stamp of approval. Note: saddle bag is not included.
I don't know the exact size of the bike, but it fits me just fine and I'm 5'10" tall. It's probably a 17 or 18, M or L.
Steel frame! Tires are great, tubes are new. This is a great hardtail bike good for trails, commuting, errands, etc. Price is firm. Email if you're interested.

I wonder if this is the same San Diego rip off artist who has taken advantage of honest, hard working CL customers in the past. If so, I understand the authorities are wise to him and it's about to go down.

Yes, it should receive at least a 50% discount for not being white.

Probably someone stealing bikes to support a drug habit or some other vice (like a white-bike habit).

I'd sell this bike for about $150 in my high-priced area. I'd also make sure it was in good shape, tuned, clean, and presented / documented properly. Many of my flipped bikes would sport new tires, cables, grips, and I'd leave on the water bottle cage and saddle bag. I tend to get near top dollar.

I was tempted until I noticed it didn't have a kickstand.

You gonna eat that?
Speaking of ripoff artists... I noticed there is CL seller locally that has apparently flipped dozens of bikes over a fairly short time period, as evidenced by his Photobucket account. I contacted him about one of the bikes for spare parts but never followed through on it. Not being very CL-savvy, I guess I'm wondering if there's any way to make sure this guy is on the level?

Gee, DG - I'd expect a better ad from someone with your skills. Given the bike is low mileage and your area is high priced some good quality pictures should make the sale.

It does seem kinda wierd that a guy who has a TREK 820 and a TREK 1000, "finds" three bikes while cleaning out the garage. That said, his price for those three bikes is quite low. My guess is he's finding these at garage sales for peanuts and is selling them as is for a quick buck. I doubt he's doing anything dishonest, like stealing them because it would not be very smart to post pics on Craigslist. BTW, if those bikes were in Raleigh, NC at that price they would be long gone.
As far as cruising garage sales, I've been doing that and the pickings are really slim. I suspect that he has some kind of an inside connection somewhere- a bike shop, a junk heap, something, because I don't see stuff like that around here that often, and he seems to find them constantly- looking through the photobucket pics, I would say he's come up with 3 dozen bikes in a month and a half.

I'll bet if you scratch the paint on the Puegot it will be white underneath. The seller is trying to hide the true condition of the bike.

If DG wants to sell off some of his unwanted goods to feed his habit- then let him. As long as he doesn't get rid of The TCR that occasionally gets a ride out.
Haven't seen any pics of this- or the rider recently DG. Is it raining where you are?

I'm sure this thread assisted in your sale. So I'm looking for my finders fee.
