Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

Junior Grouch does a hilly ride

My son completed the Midi Vino Fondo yesterday. 86 miles with 6,700 feet of climbing. Riding time was 4 hr. 52 min. Naturally, being both a dad and a grouch, I asked him how many feet of downhill coasting were on the ride.

6.7k of climbing in 86 miles comes out to 78 feet of up and 78 feet of down again per mile. That's a pretty hilly ride. I'm proud of him.

I thought you might have got really grouchy and asked him how many of those "up feet" he walked but then I remembered you not as grouchy as you put on. Proud Papa that you are.

Good for junior, the Family Grouch continues on in cycling lore. That is some good hilly riding, indeed, kudos to him, and you, of course, as the progenitor of the species.
