Sturmey Archer S2 Duomatic Questions

Here is the link to the hub gear:
https://www.sturmey-archer.com/produc.../id/57/specs/1

I was hoping to use this hub in my Dahon Helios. This allows me to keep a direct chain line (love the feel and efficiency without a derailleur and chain jumping issues) while providing a climbing gear and flat speed gear.

Questions:

1) My Dahon uses a 130mm hub width. Is this going to be a problem?

2) My Dahon wheel uses 28 spokes. This hub uses 36 spokes. Is this OK?

3) Has anyone used one of these new S2 Duomatics? Is there drag with normal riding or is it virtually transparent even to a picky user?

Thanks,
victor

Here's Sheldon Brown's solution for matching 28h rims with 36h hubs: https://sheldonbrown.com/mismatch/index.htm I've done the same thing in the past. Takes some head-scratching for spoke length and such, but it works.

The Helios is aluminum, so you should use spacers (extra axle nuts work fine) to close the 4mm gap. No problems at all.

I haven't used the S2C yet. Have one on order though . My Sachs & Fitch Duomatic (the original one) has a little drag, not too bad. This hub is not for racing bikes anyways, so who cares...

No. The hub has a 160mm axle. Put 5mm of washers on either side. Might - or might not - have to get a new BB spindle to get your chainline correct.

2) My
old

Dahon wheel uses 28 spokes. This hub uses 36 spokes.
Build your new wheel with a new 36 hole rim.

3) Has anyone used one of these new S2 Duomatics?
They're so new - how new are they? - they're so new, they're not even out yet. Maybe next couple of weeks.

HTH,

Really? AEBike's catalog search doesn't bring up the S2, only the coaster brake S2C and B2C.
