Squeaking in Dahon Speed TR Head tube/stem assembly
My terminology might be off, but I did some adjustments and the clicking/squeaking that was driving us crazy on the bike seems to have been silenced.
I loosened the clamp from the frame (with the almost 1/4" bolt), used dry wax anywhere metal touches metal. I re-assembled and so far so good. Previously, I could grab the stem above the hinge with one hand and the front rack with the other and there was a really loud clicking sound.
Maybe everyone else knows this fix, but when I Googled I did not find a specific answer to the problem; rather, there were many possible creaks as with any bike.
Anyway, hope it helps someone.
