Electronic ID tag loose inside carbon frame
Help - I have a 2008 Specialized Roubaix (carbon frame). I installed a small cylindrical electronic ID tag in the frame down the seat tube. The tag is slightly cone shaped and made to stay in place by friction. I must have inserted the cone the wrong way because it has slipped down and is now loose inside my frame just above the bottom bracket. Now there is a terrible rattle!
What can I do? My only idea is to inject some epoxy down the seat tube (or maybe through the water bottle cage threaded inserts).
Can anyone see a problem with this approach or have any other ideas? I'm desperate.

Remove the seatpost and turn the bike upside-down?

My suggestion is to pull out the seat post, turn the frame upside down in a workstand, and use a flexible "grabber" like THIS to see if you can reach up the seat tube, grab the ID tag with the grabber, and work it back down the seat tube with gravity helping you out.
It that doesn't work, you may have to remove the bottom bracket, and assuming there's a hole in the BB shell where the seat tube joins the BB shell, try to pull it out through the BB shell.

probably has a solid bb shell, but it's worth a try.

When making golf clubs I used to insert weight in "Wood" (Hollow metal ballons in shape) heads that needed some extra weight by injecting tungsten powder/resin through a hole and using it to hold tungsten powder in place. I just put a tape over the hole and let the epoxy fill in the hole. I think your approach should work fine, though I wouldn't recommend drilling it, unless you know where you can safely put a hole. But if there is an available hole...
Anyone know if the tag is magnetic? If it were one could epoxy a rare earth magnet outside the tube... Hold a magnet to the tube and see what happens. Might end the ID function...

Appreciate the response to my inquirey. No way to back the plastic tag out, it was designed to only go one way. Unfortunately the BB is sealed so I'm looking into my options with expanding foam or liquid epoxy resin.
I will post my results (as long as I don't epoxy my fingers together...)
