Cable routing for IGH

Good morning guys, I'm finishing up a frame and I'm looking for suggestions as to where I need to place my cable guides. It appears that most purpose built IGH bikes use hydro guides and run full housing..is that correct? I'll be using a Nexus Inter-7 and the frame is a twin top tube mixte. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Sean

Looking at Yips Yellow Mixte, That Gusset Behind the back of the head tube is Important. the 2 top-tubes to the head tube sides is a weak, shear, connection.

The Inside the chainstay housing stop on the hub makes either under the BB along the RT chainstay, or down one of the Mixte Tubes a reasonable route

Thanks for the replies. Yip's solution is nice but unfortunately I have already committed to another design. I suppose this shows the importance of design and layout before the torch is lit. Thanks again.

Most IGH bikes run hydro-guides along the downtube and then a couple on the chainstay. Part of that is because the IGH crowd is usually commuter or utility oriented and full housing is all part of that. However, there's no reason you couldn't run a cable stop at the top of the downtube, cable guide under the BB, and then another stop on the chainstay, with open cable between the two stops just like on a derailleur bike. One caveat if you go this route -- place the chainstay stop further forward than you would for a derailleur bike. Nexus has a cable-stop arm built into it and you will need clearance for that, plus a bit of space for slack when you are removing the housing from the hub stop. About halfway between the BB and dropout is a good place for it. Same thing if you go with the hydro guides.

I also built up a Surly CrossCheck with open cable from the DT stop all the way back to the hub, and it worked fine.

Traditional for S-A 3 speed the cable stop was the front of the Top tube .. roller at the top of the seat tube re directed the bare cable down the seat stay ..

Mixte.. the top tubes are a straight line to the rear Hub..

You could just put a Housing stop By the Hub for a short Housing length between It and the Hub stop. bare Stainless cable between the stops.
