I don't miss them, because that is what I still do, every day. Recording my rides, or keeping score on Strava, a blog, diary or anywhere else has no appeal to me, so the shortcomings of Strava icons or limitations of using a pencil because the point might break or need sharpening doesn't hinder the enjoyment of riding my bike.

That's what I mean. I don't even like to ride with guys talking about Strava segment this and PR that.

The first page should have a simple question. Log miles with a computer, or log miles manually. And then go from there.

I should make a Rivendell "Just Ride" app - you press a button and it turns off your phone. Comes with a hatchet case.

Usually it is not the software engineer's fault but their bosses. Most engineers want to do a good job but are forced to alter their designs for various reasons.

Well, this got a little out of control.
I simply wanted to point out that Strava replaced the start arrow two years ago with the silly two circle start/stop, and now have gone back and added words. So much for doing everything with icons.
But, at least it is functional now.
Unfortunately, they need someone with experience in human factors psychology on their design team. But, that isn't always done, and we get things like cars with a hood release and a brake release right next to each other.
And in the case with Strava, two years of using a circle to start Strava, and a circle to stop it.
Red to start? Don't they have more colors available?

Probably because I read this thread last night, I didn't start my ride this morning. I'll be honest, it was quite a let down knowing I didn't have any data to analyze post ride. But I got over. I think.
