Cycling Movies and streaming
I bicycle all year. But I bicycle much less in the winter months. I do a little trainer riding in the garage or basement. But for the most part... winter is my cycling off season.
I like reading cycling books too. I do that year-round. I download them to my phone.
But the upcoming winter dark days, that last a few weeks past New Years, is my bicycling movie season. Usually I expect my wife to gift me with a movie about cycling for Christmas. This year she gave me a TV streaming device. It wasn't my first such device and I have already been watching some free Crackle content on my man-cave TV. But with the new device I decided to subscribe to a content provider. I chose Amazon. And I am impressed with the numbers of cycling movies available... many for no additional fee/charge. Some included are:
Vast
the road uphill
Yell Cadel
Half the Road
Let's Roll
Race Across America
Bicycle
Does anyone else watch cycling movies for entertainment and training motivation? Or does anyone have an interesting favorite cycling movie?

Yell Cadel was pretty lame. I've also seen Inspired to Ride, and Ride the Divide, which were both pretty good. I've seen Race across the sky, which was good also, but I haven't seen Race Across the Sky 2 yet.

I'm sure I expose myself as a Philistine by suggesting Premium Rush a fairly recent ok movie with a bit of a stupid ending but what bicycle movie doesn't have a bad ending. Then I'd say BMX Bandits which actaully had pretty much the same dumb ending as Premium Rush. A bunch of kids overwhelm the bad guys with guns and none of them get shot. Then there is Turbo Kid which directly mocks/ pays homage to BMX Bandits but I'm not sure how cycling focused it is. They all happen to ride bikes and make some nods to BMXB but its more a sci fi post apocalyptia some have called it mad max on bicycles.

Breaking Away is my favorite (I have it on DVD). You might have guessed from my avatar (I relate to him much more than the movie's star). Also I like American Flyers, because it takes me back. I think the Flying Scotsman is good as well.

Wow. No one has yet suggested Quicksilver (1986)?
I like premium rush too, for what it is. When I think of it, I see this:

Two absolutely terrific cycling documentaries, both available via Netfilx streaming, I believe:
Hell On Wheels (in German w/subtitles; original title, "Hollentour"): the 2003 Tour from the perspective of the Telecom team. (Erik Zabel finishes his description of what it's like descending in the Alps on tires 2 cm wide by saying, "I should have been a surfer.")
Clean Spirit: the Argos-Shimano team in their quest to compete clean in the 100th anniversary Tour. (A team doctor says of the team's star sprinter, Marcel Kittel, "He won't even take aspirin.")

I like "60 Cycles". It's a Canadian short documentary. It's more film art than a documentary. Great music and sound too.

1.Lifecycles, this is a reference quality Blu-Ray if you have a decent home theater set.
I get a lot of inspiration from the Mike Dion movies, I can watch them repeatedly.
2.Inspired to Ride
3.Reveal the Path
4.Ride the Divide.
