ChainReactionCycles.com: Promo code working on out-of-stock items in cart

I put some items in my cart on Chain Reaction: Three tires that are out-of-stock and an in-stock tube. I didn't purchase anything and a day or so later, received an e-mail with a unique promo code for $25 off an order of $100 or more.

Exclusions related to codes are:

  • Discount vouchers & promotions are only redeemable against in-stock items.
  • Orders for out of stock items cannot be accepted.
The price (and text indicating the deduction) reflects the promo code being applied however. I even experimented and took the one in-stock item out of the order. The furthest I take either order (with or without the tube) in the cart is up to, but not clicking on "confirm", which I presumed means "place" or is this incorrect?

Here are a few other problems:

  • The code is good until 5/16/17 (Tuesday), and doesn't specify the time/zone
  • Uncertain when their customer service responds, but their phone line doesn't open until Tuesdays at 2:30A EST.

I did send an e-mail but here is my primary concern with just placing this order: If for some reason, the computer system is not catching the fact that (1) the items are out-of-stock and the promo code is applying and then (2) in the week or so it takes for the tires to get in stock, the promo code ends up being taken out and I get no promo code.

It's not that much money, but it's just a little bit odd and complicates matters a bit.

Helpful insight is appreciated as always!
