Damaged New Bike...HELP!!

Hellooo,

Just bought myself a shiny new '08 Genesis Flyer 2 days ago...and I've found a small dent on the top tube AND a tiny deep scratch on the other side on the diagonal tube!! (...and no I haven't dropped it!)

Now obviously in hindsight I should have checked over the bike with a fine toothcomb before I left the shop with it, however it's my first new bike and foolishly didn't even give it a second thought.

I found the damage when I got home that night and promptly called the shop to inform them yesterday, only to be told that I should have inspected the bike first and that it's like driving the car off of a car lot..(i.e. tough sh*t).

I then trawled the internet for some info on consumer rights, and it does seem to side with the consumer i.e me on matters such as this.

So...I called the shop back, asking for the manager, only to be told by the same unhelpful bloke that the manager wasn't in, that he'd already told me that they can't do anything about it!! The shop is one of the larger chains in London so I'm going to take it back in tomorrow and ask the manager.

...and another problem is that on my way home tonight, I got a bloody puncture, and scraped the rear rim on the kerb!! (starting to think that I'm cursed!) So now they really are going to think that I've crashed or something! Not repaired the puncture yet because I don't want to do anymore damage before I kick off at them about the oher stuff!

Phew!! Sorry about the rant but what d'ya recon??...any advice would be greatly recieved before I take the bike in tomorrow!

You should have not rode the bike again untill after you took the bike into the shop to be looked at. With the aditional scrapes on the rim, They are more then likely going to say you dented it at the same time you dinged up the rim.

You had the chance to inspect before leaving.

lesson learned.............at least it's cosmetic..........it sounds like it's in store for a lot more of those issues.........
